  • READY TO PITCH AND PACKABLE All Big Agnes tents come ready to pitch; with pre-cut guy lines and tensioners attached to fly. Reflective guy lines and webbing on tent corners make your tent easily visible at night. Fly and floor are polyester; tent body is breathable polyester and polyester mesh. All seams taped with waterproof polyurethane tape. Trail weight is 5 lb. 3 oz. and packs down to 22 x 7 inches.

Easy to set up, durable, spacious. For kayak camping this is a wonderful backcountry tent. It's stood up to two full seasons so far now of use. That may not sound like much, but I quite literally camp for a living. Guiding multiday kayak trips, this tent sees more use in one season than the average "outdoorsy" person will go in a few years. It's been through driving rain, relentless sun in the Florida Everglades, and frosty mornings in Isle Royale ntl park. It developed a small leak on the rainfly not long ago but some seam sealer and a quick spray of waterproofing and its back in top shape. It's a big tent, which is an advantage when you have a fair amount of hear and drybags you'd like to keep inside, but it's not for everyone. It doesn't pack down super small, nor is it insanely light, so not the most ideal for backpacking, unless it was shared and actually used for 2 people, but when the weight is held by that kayak it's perfect. ... show more

I bought this as an upgrade for what I have been using the past 10 years. I set it up as a test in my front yard. Easy to set up, well constructed, and the vestibule is roomy enough for me to sit on my low-profile chair out of the sun or rain. Plenty of gear pockets and loops for light and such. I can't wait to take this on my next European festival adventure! Edit: Took it to NL and UK. Easy to set up! Handled the rain & wind like a champ. LOVE this tent! ... show more

Big Agnes is the best brand I have used, and this model is top. I use it as a 2 man, but like the extra room the 3 gives. Tent handled torrents of rain in the PNW, not a drop inside. The vestibile doubles as a shower area for me, and keeps the rain out when entering tent. Too bad I may have bought the last one in the internet! ... show more

My favorite car camping tent so far. Easy and fast to set up. Only hard part is the setting up of the arch for the large vestibule area. Plenty of space for 2 people and a dog, but not 3. I primarily use it for car camping but I don't see why it would be a problem backpacking( if we split the weight) Good waterproofing, good ventilation (with the vestibule door open) Seems like a good alternative to the copper spur ul3 hotel and cheaper! ... show more

The material is really thin. This is especially concerning for the tent's floor. I wasn't impressed with the overall quality. I have a Eureka brand tent in that same price range that is made with thicker material. The Eureka tent has lasted 10+ years. I don't want to take a chance with the Hotel 3. Granted, purchasing a footprint would be an option, but it was $50 (which is too much compared to other branded footprints (let alone a simple generic tarp) and it would add bulk and weight to the backpack which is unacceptable to me. I sent it back after I set it up in the living room and felt just how thin the floor was. I don't think it would last one trip without getting a small hole somewhere even though I've always been extra careful with my gear. I've never even worn shoes inside any of my tents. But there are always tiny rocks and whatnot on the ground that have the potential to cause damage. I don't think this tent is up to the task. Great vestibule, though.
