My original toilet seat (see 1st picture) was molded plastic and had a curved surface on the bottom. As a result, the bumpers had to be stuck on parallel to the edges. This worked fine as long as the screws holding the seat and bidet were tight, but they do tend to loosen over time, so then the seat would slip to the left or right, causing the bumpers to slip out of place, which only contributed to the screws loosening further. I finally replaced the seat with one with a flat bottom (see 2nd picture). Now the bumpers can be placed perpendicular to the edges and are less prone to slipping. Everything is much more stable. Bottom line: I recommend the bumpers, but make sure you have a flat-bottomed toilet seat that allows the bumpers to be perpendicular so they don't slip and fall off! ... show more
