Mounting system is strong, but can be made more rigid with zip-ties. Taking it into the store is very nice due to the easy mounting system, and ease of inspection for store checkout staff. I use some velcro cable ties to keep the handles down and stuck to the sides - keeps the mounting system nice and solid, but is easy to open. I loved this bike basket!….until the left side of the basket attachment piece detached 2 months after purchase. I duct taped it and things were ok. But then in one more month the other side ALSO detached! Now it’s not even functional, and this is just 3 months after purchasing!! I do grocery shopping with my bike, but the heavy items always go in my saddle bags, not the basket. The basket is used often but not abused. A bike basket should definitely last longer than 3months! I will contact the seller, and edit this review with regards to customer service. UPDATE: After requesting a new attachment piece, the seller promptly sent me an entire new basket system. I appreciate the responsiveness and willingness to maintain consumer relations. I will probably have to switch to a sturdier basket for grocery shopping, but this will work great on my son’s bike, for carting around beach towels and small items (ie: wallet, stuffed animal, switch, ect) ... show more

The basket is secured on a bike via the hooks on its handles. If the road is bumpy, the handles jump up and release the basket. It got me into a very tricky situation when I was on the road, encountered a bump, and the basket started to fall off with everything contained in it. The detachment mechanism is genius but because of that the basket is a bit shaky and it constantly makes noise while you ride a bike. If you don’t detach the basket often, get the one that permanently attaches to the bike.

first, I did not realize when I ordered this that the basket was detachable with handles like a shopping basket. that is so nifty and I've gotten a lot of use out of that feature. not only do I take it into stores in place of a regular basket, it's useful for getting home with all my stuff. instead of taking everything out of the basket and carrying it in the house, I can just take the whole basket with me. the basket attaches to the handlebar mount at two points: there are two small holes in the bottom of the basket for the pegs to go through, and the handles of the basket slot through two holes at the top. this makes it super easy to attach or detach the basket without any fuss, but its secure enough to hold the basket in place. now for the things that have disappointed me. pretty shortly after I got the basket, the Velcro loop that attaches the mount to the bike frame broke. the Velcro is long enough that I can twist it around to secure it, but it is kind of frustrating and comes undone occasionally. second, by this Velcro loop there is this sort of triangular piece that holds the basket away from the frame at an angle. this triangular piece rests on two little pegs. these pegs are not very sturdy. once while I was riding, they failed on me, causing the basket to drop down and hit the bike very loudly, which was startling. the basket did not fall off though. the pegs were bent out of shape so they did not support that triangular piece. I bent them back into shape, but they still frequently fail. again, this doesn't cause the basket to fall off, but it does make the basket bang against the bike making for a bumpy ride. note that I dont carry anything heavy in the basket, usually just my water bottle and some small items. ... show more

I bought this basket to take my pup along on bike rides. The dimensions listed were the top dimensions. Because all sides taper towards the bottom, it was too small. The basket looked very nice and would have been ideal for me if it had been a little larger.

I like to pick them up and add them to my yard because it was pretty sparse when we moved in but I didn’t have a safe way to carry them home.
