  • Works Well For Small Tasks
It does what it should. It's very small, easy to take out for small temporary welds. Used it to fix my trailer with a small generator. Welded the piece I needed till I got off the field. Grip does not hold the electrode very well so be carfull. The welding mask it comes with, just throw it in the garbage, it's useless. But for the price, it works as intended. ... show more

  • More than satisfied.
Not a 5 star welder, but 3 times the welder I expected for that price.

  • Dangerous junk
I should have known with a price point below fifty bucks that it would be a joke, lesson learned here. The output terminals are not labeled at all! That's insane to me! And manual is also garbage, offering no insights either on polarity. The amp control dial doesn't let you dial in a amperage that you want. It's always bouncing up and down no matter how carefully you try to hone in on a specific number. And once you do strike an arc, the dang amp display jumps way high, but I'm not seeing much more output. I suspect the microcontroller is getting interference from the transformer internally. I wasted a ton of rods trying to make this thing give me a weld that I would actually trust. Even the best ones I made looked like junior high school shop class and when I cut them open to inspect, the penetration was literally surface deep. So even if the weld looks good, you're in for a world of pain if you tried to use this to build anything load bearing. This unit was a total exercise in frustration. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Your time is more valuable than you think, go with this and you'll find out exactly what I mean. ... show more

  • Good for the price but nothing like a pro
Great for home and just minor welding around the garage. It works pretty well for the size but if you expect to work like a pro then don't get this one. It's really small to very easy to mode around and fit into small places. I do have my doubts on the longevity of this item along with the safety but so far so good. ... show more

  • Decent for the price, check the ground connection
I opened it and was not satisfied to see that the ground connection is attached to a painted piece of metal, which can provide a poor connection.. I removed the screw, sanded the metal on the side where the earth wire connects to remove the paint, and reassembled. Because this is a potential safety issue, I am removing one star. I encourage all buyers to verify continuity between the ground on the AC plug, and the case, before using. It comes with J422 rods which from what I read are kind of similar to 6013 US rods and are common in Asia. They are just thrown into the box without packaging so they are moist - ideally you want to dry them before use if you can. The mask provided is garbage, with a lot of flashing preventing proper assembly without extensive shaving with a knife. Do yourself a favor and get a proper mask. At this price, I don't think it's a major issue. It would work in a pinch, too. Maybe throw it into your work truck just in case, or good for another observer. Another issue is that the +/- is not written. Huge oversight. From a multimeter measurement it appears the + is the one on the left when facing the front panel in a way that you can read the numbers. I also attached a picture of the internals, in case someone is interested. I am not an expert welder, I was able to run a bead but I am a bit ashamed to show it. I think this product works fine for non-critical applications - and as with anything welding related, it depends on the skills of the operator. I will let other reviewers give more details on the welding itself. The fan on the rear is 24V and should be replaceable if needed. So this should last a while with proper car and maintenance. Overall, I think it a good welder to have around the garage for the occasional repair, or to leave in the truck just in case. ... show more

  • Great welder with limitations.
BetyBedy Stick Welder, Portable Mini Welding Machine, 110V MMA-300Amp Welder Machine with Hot Start, Arc Force, Anti-Stick, IGBT Inverter Electric Welding Machine for 1/16"-1/8" Rod ARC WelderBetyBedy Stick Welder, Portable Mini Welding Machine, 110V MMA-300Amp Welder Machine with Hot Start, Arc Force, Anti-Stick, IGBT Inverter Electric Welding Machine for 1/16"-1/8" Rod ARC Welder I really like this inverter technology. We live on a ranch and do all of our own repairs of all kinds. If we have welding to do, we normally need to try to get the vehicle, or equipment to the welding shop area. We have a couple of older Lincoln stick welders, an older Lincoln Weld-pak 100 wire welder, a couple of MIGs and one TIG setup. This little gem will now allow us to go to the worksite and weld in the field with a portable generator. My husband is the welder/fabricator on our ranch and he has a lot of good things to say about these inverter welders, but also that they have their limitations. This welder is very similar to another that we have. The only differences are in aesthetics, or style. The on/off switch being in the back of the machine is a little more difficult, but we understand the limited space on the front of the welder. The limited instructions don’t say where to place the cables for proper polarity, but I have included a photo of the correct set up. As you can see from the photo, as you face the front of the welder, the ground clamp/cable goes on the left side and the electrode holder/cable goes on the right side. The hand held welding mask, and brush are nonsensical garbage, just as they always are when included in these welder kits. These days there is no reason not to have a good welding helmet, and auto darkening if possible. Good wire brushes are very affordable too. Now for the performance. My husband found apiece of 1/8” X 1” angle iron to try this welder on. He used the included welding rod as well. He found that this welder is capable of producing a good weld with good penetration at between 260 and 300 amps on the meter. That doesn’t mean it is producing that many amps, but it can provide a decent weld. Remember this is a $40 welder meant to be portable and used for limited purposes. He ran a couple of welds and it tripped a 15 amp breaker in the shop, so it really does require a 20 amp circuit. His final words; This welder has its place in the shop and in the field, but it has limitations. If you reduce your expectations, then you won’t be disappointed. Also, buy a good helmet, brush, and tack hammer to go with it. ... show more
