The microfiber material is soft but strong. My cat has put a surface scratch or two on it but it doesn't stand out. This material really is cat friendly. Well made but I prefer something more plush but I can't take away stars for that!

This was the most pathetic piece of furniture!! They (my friends) told me "go expensive this time and get something good and sturdy"...Well it doesn't work like that Im here to tell u. I’m writing this review to let you know I think the couches are great. The material is also fantastic if you spill something because it cleans up beautifully. Please lower the price of the recliner and I will buy that too!
