I got this because I did six months on the road over the autumn and winter, and I needed something that could charge my electronics or power my Hot Logic while driving. I noticed that if I’m using my Hot Logic, my phone charges slower than if plugged into my 12V adapter directly, but that makes sense. My lighter adapter only makes so much just and my other electronics need to share. I didn’t notice any fan noise, which was great. And I didn’t experience any overheating, which was even better. The option of two plugs and two USB-A outlets gave me enough options for recharging backup batteries, solar lights, or chargers or cooking lunches on the road. This car charger is great. We just did a trip from Arizona to Wyoming. Had two cell phones charging and the charger for my Baofeng UV5R ham radio all plugged in at the same time. All charged quickly and fan on charger kept charger cool. We’ll worth the money.

    • 300 Watt Inverter
Originally, I got this as an indoor back-up power supply that I have running off of a 530 MCA deep cycle marine battery. I have another inverter that is 50% lower continuous output power (150 watts) and its internal cooling fan (bushings instead of ball bearings) quit. This unit says to have a "Smart Fan", so I thought I give it a try. It runs much quieter than the 150-watt inverter with single speed cooling fan (when it used to run). I tried to get the cooling fan on this 300-watt inverter to run faster by increasing the load, but the fan didn't increase much on speed. But the inverter wasn't getting warm either as the load was only 212 watts, not the full 300 watts. Right now, I have the 300-watt inverter powering my 8-channel security camera set-up with DVR via since the old APC Smart UPS 700 keeps melting the batteries. The UPS doesn't stop charging the batteries when they become fully charged, causing them to overheat & melt. So for now, the camera set-up is running off of the 300-watt inverter, which is running off of the marine battery, which that is charged by an automatic battery charger/conditioner. This current configuration will run the DVR & cameras for 3 full days on a charge versus a couple hours on the UPS. ... show more
