Not bad and easy to put together, Not perfectly made for I see some imperfections but still its not bad for our use. I'm 6'3 265 lbs and I've stood on it several times to reach my flag pole mounted to the house. So sitting on it is a breeze for this holds my full body weight standing. (Not that I recommend you stand) on it lol But still it held me :-) For the price , I dig it ! (((UPDATE))) As of 6-15-18 the bench is still holding strong and has held up to 450 lbs at a time, I know this because I was 300 lbs for a while and the wife was 150 lbs so ye that bench is awesome ! ... show more

    • Buy your own screws!

I was having the hardest time with the "hex nuts" or whatever they are called and that stupid "L" key. How ridiculous! Are regular screws with nuts that much more expensive??? I can only assume there is a reason I don't know about. In any case, I went to the hardware store and found 'machine screws' (I think that's what they called them) the same size and BOOM! Bench done! SO easy! Sure, I have to buy some paint to cover up the silver screws but SO worth it! It probably never would occurred to me had I not seen someone else put it in there post. Thank you, person! This bench appeared to be of medium quality--which felt fair based on the price--slightly lighter in weight and heft than I expected from steel product. I would have been satisfied with my purchase had this bench not immediately started to rust upon the first rain. I had this delivered at the end of Feb, assembled first week in March, and now in the 2nd week of April, can't return directly. I purchased two, and one is still in the original box. Amazon is putting me in touch with this third party seller, and we will see how well they resolve this issue. ... show more

At first I was well pleased with this bench and easy to assemble. Well constructed somewhat comfortable at a good price. Now after one overnight rain I noticed that all the welds show signs of rusting, Read the comments by others to apply minwax coating to preserve the finish over winter if kept out but one summer rain would do this. I had even purchased the minwax to apply before winter. Now must clean up rust on existing welds and attempt to apply the minwax spray. Very disappointing, would have given it fewer stars but everything else about this bench is fine ... show more

Let me start by saying that I am NOT an employee of Amazon. Products referenced in this review can be purchased at most Home Improvement stores. The Amazon product numbers are included just to provide more detail regarding the items for anyone interested. The package with the Garden Bench arrived in good shape without any dents or scratches to the item as mentioned in some of the other reviews. The metal seems to be of a good solid gauge and should last a long time. The nuts included were “self-locking” type nuts which was an added feature. Plastic “caps” for all the nuts provided a nice, finished look. Assembly was easy enough and I appreciated the manufacturer including all the tools needed to complete assembly. I assumed that I would need to paint the bench to prevent rust due to that being a major issue mentioned in other reviews. Additionally, I assumed that I would need to paint the bench because the manufacturer could probably not adequately coat the bench for outdoor use at the relatively low price it was being sold. I imagine that the factory coating is adequate for indoor or enclosed patio use. I painted the bench with TWO coats of Rust-Oleum Semi-Gloss Black Paint (Amazon # ‎7798502) using a 2 inch “throw-away” brush (Amazon B07GR7LV77). Really thick coats of paint were used because I was more concerned about coverage / protection than I was about sags and runs. Painting the back and bottom of the bench FIRST and then top and front surfaces LAST put any runs or drips where they wouldn’t be seen. “Painter Pyramids” (Amazon 0840095858113) allowed the front and back of each piece to be painted without waiting for each side to dry. (Patience has never been one of my virtues!) The shipping container was cut apart and used as a drop cloth to catch any dripping paint. (See photo 1, 2) The bench was placed in a sloping nature area of our front yard. To level the bench Red Concrete Patio Stones were used (Lowes Item #19184 Model #104601201) which were only a couple of bucks each. (See photo 3). This also prevented the narrow legs from sinking into the ground. A cup holder (Amazon B07RVDMRYC) was added so my wife could enjoy her tea during some quiet moments in the nature area. (See photo 4) Hopefully the bench will provide a quiet enjoyable place to relax for many years. (See photo 5) ... show more

I found out that the nuts have a thin skin that needs to be punched through with the Allen wrench and little tool that is provided. Would have been nice to have been told that. Hardware guy said that is just known. May by guys but not some of us gals. I bought new screws and nuts from my local hardware. Plus a glue product that locks screws in place. Also spray paint to prevent rusting, since this bench has that tendency (from the 1 star reviews) I've read. So $35 dollars later I'm really to begin project. Companies just cheap out. No integrity anymore with products. I use to think the negative reviews were just people bitching. Not anymore. Read 1 stars also before purchasing. ... show more

    • Nicely made, but it has a couple of issues!

This is a very well made bench, but one of the bolts was defective and we just decided to replace all the attachment hardware with stainless steel bolts and washers to avoid rust issues and have a better fit. Also where the joins for the decorative back joins the frame, rust started showing right away, but we plan to take apart and spray with a good Krylon outdoor spray paint. I know... should have thought of that before, but I like the size and look and it is very sturdy and worth the money, I just decided to add my own upgrades with a good Krylon "Hammered" bronze paint. ... show more
