Like so many other reviews my box was fine but the contents were not. Screws were everywhere and two posts were bent. One is minor in the middle and the other is at the base. I’m hoping it will assemble ok. It looks as if it was repackaged and put in this box because of the purple bag containing some items. Will update after assembly. Update: despite pieces being banged up and screws everywhere I was only short 1 screw and was able to assemble it fully. The instructions are not very clear in some parts. The top pieces with screws on the top are suppose to be at the back aka opposite of the post with the part for the pulley rope. The tracks need to be placed with the pin/hole side towards the back. If the holes aren’t lining up just right on the main posts then push against it a little so it leans some. That worked for me. I found it easier to assemble the cover and beams at the same time and one side at a time instead of putting the beams together first. Also, install the pulley string before putting on the cover. Hope this helps someone.

This is a great product! But you do get what you pay for ( really more than what you pay for) there were a few dents and bad welds but this product has held up really well in our crazy winds and is a great place for entertainment and shade. I would definitely recommend this product if you don’t want to spend the money and want to add a nice touch to your patio/ yard.

I was concerned because this was so cheap, but there were so many great reviews that I thought I couldn’t go wrong. I received the box and the pieces are extremely flimsy but I figured that’s probably what I would get with this price. The worst part was the instructions and assembly. The instructions were only pictures and they’re horrible. Holes were not aligned and we had to drill new holes. We were missing parts so we couldn’t use the canopy. I had purchased two kits and with some help we were able to put the two together and finally build one structure. So I got one structure for the price of two. It took three times longer to build then it said it would, and we had to re-drill several of the holes ourselves. now I have extra parts that I have to get rid of. This may last a year if I’m lucky. But it was not worth the price. I should’ve thought a better one that had all of the parts had good instructions and was manufactured well. Save your money.

The only positive thing about this pergola is that it is inexpensive, otherwise I would give it 2 stars. After a year and 3 month it has rust all over it. The superficial paint has not protected the surface and the bolts that join the pieces together are definitely not rustproof (see the pictures). This is in California and we get a lot less rain than many other parts of the country so I can imagine that it performs even worse elsewhere. The metal used for the pillars and bars is very soft to the point that if you tighten the bolts a bit too much (even by hand) the metal bends. Because of that, the whole structure bends out of shape if the surface is not perfectly flat, for example if you install it on top of grass. So if you want something that lasts, this is not it.

I had to pay my handyman to assemble it, and, true to other reviews, he had a hard time putting it together. He said that some parts were missing and he got them at Home Depot, also, he had to look up the instructions online because the enclosed instructions were not helpful. His efforts paid off, however, after it has been assembled, the piece stays on and provides good shade to sit on the patio on sunny days.

I want to start by saying the engineer that designed this wasnt bad. The overall blueprint to this is actually pretty good. That being said, here's my review. The first one I got looked like it was dropped out of a plane, the manual had a huge hole and over half the pieces were either bent or broken. They were nice enough to send out another one at no cost, and even said we could keep the broken one (not that it does me any good). The second one I got was in much better shape. Some dings and small dents, but nothing broken or unusable. The instructions are poorly written to the point where you will be guessing on some parts, and the order is not anywhere close to a good order for building it. The tools required is not accurate. You will need a few things not listed, like a screwdriver. The parts list is inaccurate, but it still had all that was needed to build it in terms of screws, nuts, and bolts. The final piece cannot be put on unless you have some massive washers lying around. It's just a small tarp cover to prevent water build up when the canopy part is closed, but it's still part of it that cant be done unless you provide your own washers. All that being said, I'm not 100% disappointed. I build things a lot in my spare time, and this was just more frustrating than it was worth. It's up though and my wife who ordered it is happy that we have it. She ordered cheap and cheap is what we got. Hopefully it holds up for awhile. Giving it a 2 instead of a 1 because the customer support was great and my wife is currently happy.
