I like this fish. It's great in itself, good quality and easy to use. I always use it to fish now.Amazing rod ! I own about a dozen surf rods, including Okuma,daiwa,St Croix and other famouse brand rods.I purchased this Berrypro super panther surf rod because i was initially attracted by its beautiful design. Until i received it,I was surprised by its light weight but powerful pole body, the blank is strong and elastic, which could be comparable to those famous brands. Another detail is also impressed me deeply , nearly all the guides were protected properly by pearl foam,You can see from these details that they are really serious about their product. I have been surf fishining for many years,this rod is really awesome and amazing . Really unbelievable that such an excellent quality surf rod can be bought at such a friendly price. Recommend this rod to every surf fisherman.

This 10'6" pole is awesome. Put a 4000 Pen Pursuit iii on it and it's a match made in heaven. Very aesthetically pleasing. Rich purple/maroon coloring. The grips are thin in comparison to most surf poles which, from my experience, cuts down hand fatigue. It's light as all hell, springy but sturdy. The rings are silver which takes away from the poles overall look but they're solid. If you surf fish or pier fish for larger species such as stripers and halibut (I'm on the West Coast/Bay) I recommend this pole...Will update on performance after a Hilbut trip on Monay. ***Update*** Took it to the surf and fished for striper and perch. I didn't catch any fish but I threw a snare on and dragged in three keeper dungees. This poles a keeper!

The first one I ordered came in with a cracked eye, Berrypro sent me a new rod free of charge and when it came in I put a Okuma serf 8 -K on it with a 4oz. storm sinker. I have 100yards marked off in my yard. I gave it a little better than half cast, it landed about 30 yds. past the 100 yard mark. I know a 150 yard cast will not be a problem. I would highly recommend this rod. I love it , it has a new home on my beach cart, I took a pretty heigh dollar rod and reel off and put this one on it. 15ft. 4pc.

The only thing to know about this rod in the negative is this: lower section and next section stick horribly, and, I mean, next to impossible to pull apart by hand. Stumbled on a solution, however....I think....let the rod sit at home for a week and then try to pull apart. Worked on the second trip (after using vicegrips and WD40 and lots of cursing after the first trip.

This rod is not worth the money. If youre fishing at the dam or any where that requires you to cast far this rod will not make you happy. I've gotten the 13"3 rod and when I tell you I have to swing this big rod with all my might to get it to go anywhere. I can flick my wrist with my 7ft rod and throw further then this rod can. One of the eyes straight out of the box was bent. The rod do look nice and seem pretty strong. The point of surf rods is to be able to cast long distance. This ISNT the rod for that at all. This rod has no action at all.

This rod is very well made with great attention to detail. The continuous twist in the foam around the butt, means you have a grip wherever you grab. Due to the light weight I can last longer while casting lures for mackerel or tuna from the pier. The butt is thinner than some, and therefore fits nicely in any rod holder. The eyes are strong, smooth and well placed. I paired the 10' medium heavy with an Okuma ABF-65b and it's very well balanced, providing great casting distance with smooth retrieval.
