I was a little worried about if this rod was the proper action for what I needed. I wanted something for 20-30 lb braid, and 2 to 4 ounce sinkers while surf fishing with bait. I already have a 12 foot rod that was claimed to be good for that weight but is way too light. This Rod was right on the money. I matched this with a 6000 series Sougayilang spinning reel, 30 lb 9 strands braid and use a 20 foot mono top shot. The rod has great casting ability. The high modulus graphite fiber puts incredible energy into the cast. Used at its max, it easily outcasts my other surf rods by at least 20%. The only downside is that the high distance casting can fling bait off the hook. If the bait is soft (like shelled shrimp), you need to be a little more gentle. I have only used it twice, so can’t speak to durability, but it looks very well made. And I put it to a pretty intense stress test with no issues ... show more

Legitimately impressed. Super light, great action, definitely recommend. This was a purchase just to stick an extra reel on as I had an extra. Instead, this gets used just as much as my st. croix rod now. added a penn slammer to it instead of my extra daiwa reel. We'll see if it breaks anytime soon but its been good for a full season so far. Highly recommend. Will probably slowly replace my older rods with these. ... show more

Have hauled in 3 8ft nurse sharks so far with the 13ft on a reliance pt and this rod. Super sensitive tip and good action. 65lb braid seems to work well. Have tossed out 2lb mullet and 1lb weights with it just be gentle and use common sense when throwing that much weight with a surf rod and this bad boy will last forever ... show more

Off the bat, this thing is light, compare to my 11ft daiwa FT (fiberglass rod), very close weight to my okuma SST 10ft6. I paired it with a Shakespeare Alpha 70b had a few dry run, felt that the rod is a bit forward heavy, with a 2oz sinker it still feel a bit more. May be my reel isn’t heavy enough, otherwise I will have to find a way to add weight to the butt of the rod! Otherwise easy long distance casting rod!!! ... show more
