  • Solid, good quality light
Style: Swing Arm Color: Blue
This is a large, high quality LED desk light. I've bought a whole bunch of cheap LED desk lights that have failed in various ways. You can feel the build quality in this is significantly better (even the way the product is packaged gives it a premium feel). It's super expensive for what it is, but I'm hoping that it'll pay for itself in longevity. We love the curved light source - it clearly illuminates a large desk area. ... show more

  • Best office and craft/sewing room light for the near-blind
Style: Swing Arm Color: Gold
Of course you're going to illuminate a larger space with the shape of this light. The office and craft room surfaces that my lights illuminate are quite large, and every square inch is handled with barely a touch of the ring. I can easily move them in toward me and away from me, depending on my needs. They're bright. They don't wobble. They look cool - sleek. They don't take up a lot of space and they don't scream "I'm a lamp. Look at me!" They are just simply the best task/reading lights for me. (Yes, I can dim them - but why?) ... show more

  • Not a great computer lamp but perfect for reading, drawing, and crafts
Style: Swing Arm Color: Silver
What's great: - Just as promised, it equally lights up a large section of your desk making this perfect for reading, drawing, and crafts. - Easy to adjust color temperature and brightness. What's not great: - The light is distracting next to a medium to large monitor which makes it quite awkward as a desk lamp. If you're looking down at a laptop or a smaller monitor you can get the light positioned so that you aren't looking at the LEDs. On a larger monitor, you need to angle the light away from you (shining onto the monitor) or get a good view of the LEDs blaring down on the desk which can be quite distracting. - Somewhat stiff with limited range of motion for the light. You won't be able to shine this any direction but down with just enough tilt that the light doesn't shine directly into your eyes. - This does not light up a room near as well as a traditional lamp. This lights up the area below it quite well but as a tradeoff, there is very little surrounding bounce lighting and the room can feel dark if this is the only light you have on. - The touch ring is as good as a touch ring can be, but a physical switch would have been much better. ... show more

  • Very well thought out lamp!
Style: Swing Arm Color: Silver
I was recently looking to replace a lamp that broke on me. I remember that a lot of people in software engineering own this lamp. When I first saw the price tag I was like “how can a lamp possibly be worth 200+ dollars?”. After doing some more research in the area I still wasn’t fully convinced. No amount of YouTube reviews or Amazon comments was going to get me to spend 200 on a lamp. However, I remembered the story of the Pixar lamp in the opening of every Disney movie and how it’s based off an actual lamp in real life. Turns out that lamp costs 150 dollars (and it runs on a regular bulb). So something must be making these lamps worth the money, if every Pixar animator in that era swears by it. I took the leap of faith and purchased the BenQ lamp. On the first day, I knew I made the right decision. Pulling the product out of the box (the packaging alone was an experience) I could feel the build quality of all the parts. During assembly I knew the engineer put some thought into this product. Possibly the simplest setup process designed for people who don’t have time to waste on reading an IKEA like manual. And finally the light produced. The lamp puts off a very nice light that doesn’t hurt your eyes when under it for a long period of time. In fact I leave it on all day in my office and I don’t even notice it is there (I only notice when it’s not there). I think the best part was I found out that there is a floor lamp version of this light, which i immediately bought for my bedroom as a reading light that I dual purpose as an alarm clock with a smart plug and Alexa. I think If you are still on the fence due to the price, then go to a local lamps plus store and check out a wider spectrum of lamps. You will see what quality you get for each price point among other lamps. Now if the quality difference of a 50 dollar lamp is negligible to a 300 dollar lamp, then you will know that this product is not for you and that’s perfectly okay. Spend your money on other things that will provide you more value. ... show more

  • Great desk lamp - one default: the light turns on after a power outage.
Style: Swing Arm Color: Blue
This is a great desk lamp. I love switching it on/off by just touching the ring. Increasing/decreasing the light temperature (in Kelvin) is really nice. The only fault I could find is that if there's a power outage then, upon power restoration, the light goes on. It should stay off, I believe. In my case, I was away from home for a few weeks and a power outage took place: upon restoration, the light stayed until my return. ... show more
