I am a physical therapist and have worked with many people who needed a raised toilet seat. In my experience, either the raised seats were unstable, uncomfortable to sit on, or the seat/hole was too small and things got messy. Now that my own mother needed a raised seat, I began my search. Initially I was unimpressed with the Bemis toilet seat because it was so expensive. I read the negative reviews and basically decided not to try it. I eventually went to my local medical supply store that carried them and sat on one and saw how it worked. I came home and ordered one. It was easy to install. It is comfortable, like sitting on a regular toilet seat. I have plenty of room to do my necessities (elongated seat). It is sturdy, nice to lift up and clean. I have not had the issue with things splashing out. I did find the arm rests to be cold when my bare legs touched them. I fixed this by wrapping them with grip tape, problem solved. I would highly recommend this toilet seat. I plan on keeping it after my mother passes, I am sure I will need it for myself in the future! ... show more

Best of the toilet seats. We tried several. Well worth the money. 3” Not too low and not too high. Still going since 2023. Easy to clean. Sturdy and does not slide or move with my mom (weighs approx 200#). Can’t recommend enough!!!!

This toilet seat was just what we needed for my in-laws. We do have high rise toilets installed in our Az house so we thought that would be sufficient when my in laws came to visit, but we needed more height and something to push off to come to a stand after sitting. This toilet seat fits the Bill. It is very very secure. It fit my toilet perfectly. Very easy to install. Just remove old toilet seat and put this one in it’s place. There are special bolts from Bemis and a special tool that you use to tighten the bolts, when they are tight the end of the bolt snaps off and you never have to worry about it loosening up. Lifetime warranty on the seat. That’s excellent quality. The one thing I’m not a fan of is the cleaning of my actual toilet. There is a gap under the riser part of the new seat and the actual toilet rim. This creates a space and I’m finding that I have to clean in between that space often. Not sure if it’s the users of this toilet that are in their early 90’s or if it’s something Bemis needs to address. For my space it’s cramped so it’s harder for me to get to but some may not have an issue. Overall excellent quality and very very sturdy. Don’t waste your money on a cheaper solution, spend the money for peace of mind that your loved one will be secure getting on and off the toilet. ... show more

I am a Mechanical Engineer so am a bit more critical than maybe the average person. The unit arrived one day before promised and was in a carton that was more than adequate to handle the stress of a long trip with multiple transfer depos. Unit arrived in perfect condition, and I was surprised as I was expecting a feather weight carton but to my surprise found just the opposite. The unit itself .....base and lid...were of very solid construction. Sorry that i did not weigh the unit but would guess it was close to 8 -10 pounds ....looked and felt solid. The unit had a self closing solid lid and fit our Kohler oval toilet perfectly. The two threaded mounting studs were molded solidly into the seat base which resulted in the 2 mounting posts to set perfectly flat on the Kohler toilet ....absolutely no wobble ! I tightened the seat down with the 2 plastic nuts but did not tighten fully until a week later as to allow for and any "settling in" ......in retrospect not necessary. The 2 support arms .....which were very important for my wife..... fit perfectly as designed, and gave her the required need for security. And for $145 I cannot say enough good things about this product. Its a bargain! and would purchase it again. Nice job Bemis. CG ... show more

I would give this more than five stars if I could! My husband is disabled with long legs and had been using an ugly plastic commode for a long time. It provided the necessary height, but left a 6" gap between the seat and the bowl - you can imagine the issues with that. Yuck. We began searching for an attractive, dignified, sturdy and SANITARY solution to the problem. So many of the risers looked ugly and could not be cleaned without unbolting the hardware, etc. Finally came upon the BEMIS and read all the great reviews. The one from the occupational therapist which highlighted the seat/arm safety was what cinched the deal. I purchased the BEMIS and installed it myself (follow directions exactly and it's a breeze). My husband loves it - very comfortable, no spillage, super solid construction. It's so easy to clean. I love the look as well. Unfortunately, the seat was still too low. We then purchased the Toilevator (also available in Amazon) and had that installed by a plumber. Voila! Check out the final results when combining the two! We have now added 7" height, and sitting down and standing up are so much easier. Very, very satisfied. Doing one's biz shouldn't be stressful! We are happy to answer any questions. Update - my now 95 year old mom came and we took the seat out of storage, reinstalled again and it is still a super product. My 94 year old mother came to stay with us for a few months and this seat has worked out really well. Even though it had a higher price, the reviews were great and it is made in the USA. It is well worth the extra money. It is super easy to clean too. My husband installed it before I realized I ordered the wrong bowl shape and it still was very sturdy, made the seat larger , was easy to install and my mom was arriving the next day so we decided to keep it. No issues. This is installed in the first floor family bathroom and sees a lot of action. It’s been a few months now and it has worked out so well I wanted to give it a great review. ... show more
