Bought this to replace a older model (probably over a decade, with a broken hinge) of the same brand. Compared to the old one, this new one has two features that I really like: 1. Easy to install. You first tight up the nuts onto the bolts (bolt head facing up), then lock the seat onto the bolts by rotating the knobs on the seat connectors. 2. Easy to clean. The bolts have larger heads compared to old models, and this make them more water-tight as water spilled on them won't go through the bolt holes on the toilet. Also, the seat can be removed for cleaning (just unlock by rotating the knobs) with the bolts stay in their places. ... show more

I've bought & installed new toilet seats at home for about 50 years. These are the best design I have ever used. Once the anchor bolts are installed they stay tight and do not have to be replaced when replacing with a matching Bemis Easy Clean & Change Hinges model. Just snap it off and snap on a new one. You could even order different colors and change the seat color as often as you wish. That would take about 15 seconds! One could even lite-sand and re-spray the enamel painted seat ... maybe with an enamel color of your choice. The wooden lid and seat are strong. You do not feel like the lid might collapse as plastic seats do. Great when using it as a seat to trim toenails, shave legs, etc. The plastic hardware is more than sufficient, but they do have some models with stainless bolts. I have already purchased five Bemis Easy Clean & Change Hinge seats over the years. I'm never going back to other models! With a starting cost of under $21 why would I? ... show more

Very pleased with this quality toilet seat, delivery was acceptable. The finish is gorgeous and the hardware is sturdy. I got the fawn color and it was beautiful. I should have watched the video first as there was no instructions in the box and it arrives in a it's original box showing the contents, my UPS driver wrote "FLUSH" on my box:-). Tips - After you remove you old seat clean area thoroughly, Note - You can also easily remove this seat for through cleaning later just unlock latches and lift. DO NOT use BLEACH on the new seat ! nor toilet bowl cleaner with bleach as it will ruin the finish. I always cover the bolts in vaseline and I do mean cover, which makes removal and install so much easier, if you have ever had to fight an old toilet seat off you would appreciate this tip. You could use WD40 but I like the vaseline it stays on. I once had to melt the plastic bolts off one, put lots of vaseline and save yourself aggravation. Based on the quality of this seat I don't see a replacement in the near future being necessary. After you remove, place the bolts on the toilet hand tighten with nipple down as much as you can and then use a flat head to tighten all the way down. Unlock the little latches on either side of the toilet seat and snap down on to bolts and lock the latches and you have a great looking and quality toilet seat. I was so pleased with the "quality" of the seat and appreciated the vidoes with dos;, don'ts and how to that I bought another one to replace my junky cheap plastic. This toilet seat looks great and took less than 5 minutes to install.. It fit my toilet perfectly, which was something I was concerned about because I wasn't sure if my toilet bowl was considered elongated. However, I did measure it from side to side and top to bottom to make sure it was what I needed. My only complaint is when cleaning with bleach products, it stained it a little. I'm not sure if it's because of the type of material or the paint used.. Either way, I still love it. ... show more

I prefer enameled wood toilet seats for the warmth in the winter and the comfort. Bemis makes some of the best mainstream toilet seats available and this one is well made. The white color is a bright pure white, so it makes the enamel on the toilet look a bit dull and gray by comparison. The plastic mounting system is lacking; their more expensive ones with the Easy Close feature (not on this model) have a metal and plastic mounting system that stays put for years without needing adjustment. I expect this one to become loose at some point and will require re-tightening. Like all enameled wood seats, staining on its underside is inevitable. The Bemis 500EC 464 Toilet Seat is very easy to install, looks great, and works perfectly. It has a swivel hinge that locks and unlocks, allowing the seat to be removed for cleaning. In the unlocked position, it seems to take a significant tug to remove the seat for cleaning, and I'm afraid of breaking something or that it might not seat properly when I snap it back on after .cleaning. However, this fear was unfounded, and so far, it works great. It's a good product at a very good price! ... show more

I just replaced the one we already had after about 7 years. The old one broke due to weight issues on my part. It's actually quite sturdy.
