  • My favorite beginner finance book
Format: Hardcover
I've used this book for helpful information about general budgeting, HSAs, IRA and several other topics. The writing is informative and engaging. The author makes the topics so approachable that it was easy to learn--even subjects that had confused or frustrated me in other books. I appreciate that the author also writes about people with very small budgets and addresses what to do when typical budgeting advice won't work (ex. if you make too little money to make ends meet and save 20 percent of your income then what should you do instead). ... show more

Money Matters To Smart Girls... This is a highly recommended read for young girls and teenagers seeking to gain valuable insights into managing their finances. This book is not just about managing money; it's about empowering girls to take control of their financial futures. The author does an exceptional job of breaking down complex financial concepts into digestible, relatable content. The book covers topics like budgeting, saving, and investing, and even touches on entrepreneurship, making it a comprehensive guide for financial literacy. One of the book's standout features is the relatable stories and examples of successful women who have achieved financial independence. These stories serve as both inspiration and evidence that financial success knows no gender boundaries. What sets this book apart is its approachable and engaging style. She is definitely a relatable character, she was a form teacher. (Hats off to her) The author understands the mindset and challenges young girls face when it comes to money. • Accessible, Actionable, Engaging, and Compassionate- everything I would expect from Tiffany
Format: Hardcover
Finally, something good came of 2020. Tiffany "The Budgetnista" Aliche was born to teach. The brilliance of (all of) her work is that she's at once a forever pre-school teacher and a wildly successful entrepreneur. "Get Good with Money" is a demonstration of Tiffany's dedication to leading with vulnerability, centering faith in humanity, and dogged pursuit of her mission to help marginalized folks build wealth. This book is a lovely balance of roadmap to "financial wholeness" (NOT to be confused with "financial freedom") and a relatable memoir about her journey to rebuild her life after the 2008 recession and other misfortunes. Nothing preachy or condescending about it. Being a pre-school teacher, this is an engaging, accessible, and actionable guide to help folks at all stages of their careers. If someone shaming you into austerity hasn't helped you get your financial life in order (weird how that doesn't work long-term), then I highly recommend this as an alternative. "Get Good with Money" is a fabulous tool to help you develop skills and introspection on your way to creating sustainable change in your life. I feel like I've been on this journey with Tiffany and Mandy since I started listening to the Brown Ambition podcast, circa 2015? 2016? Whenever episode #10 dropped. They helped me recognize how I was being discounted and silenced at work as a woman of color. Tiffany's book arrived yesterday; I've since mowed through it, despite being a busy graduate student at an Ivy League university (an absolute dream that years of listening to the Brown Ambition podcast gave me the moxie to pursue!) Buy the book. It's a good investment in yourself. ... show more
