I wasn't familiar with the Bella brand before seeing this toaster, but I like it so far. We've had our Cuisinart for 25-ish years (!) and I have yet to find one as good. This little Bella has almost all the same features as mine that you don't normally see on basic toasters: reheat, cancel, reheat and defrost that all work as they should. And of course shade settings, which seem to work just okay. I plan to give this to my daughter for her her first apartment. I think she will love the modern look of it and I like the safety features like anti-jam and auto shutoff. Anything to prevent the old knife in the toaster trick. I love that there are other Bella products with the same finish so one could go matchy-matchy with their small kitchen appliances. I got the oatmilk which seemed to be the most neutral choice, but I do worry about the possibility of it turning darker around the top near the heat source. At around thirty dollars at the time of review, it seems to be a good value for the form and function of this toaster. ... show more

It does have some burning odor in the first few uses. The odor faded then. It happens in all small appliances with heating functions.
