Our basic Mr. Coffee machine went down so we needed a replacement. I wanted a coffee maker with an automatic shutoff and the Bella 12-cup programmable came up in my search. It looked good and the price was right, so I ordered it. In short, it makes good coffee. Here's my assessment after our first batch of brew. Pros 1. Low price 2. Compact and light unit. It doesn't take up much counter space and is easily moved. Because its buttons are oriented horizontally on the front, you have to hold it with your other hand when pushing the buttons because the unit will move if you don't. (The programmable Mr. Coffee has its buttons vertically oriented on its base so you're pushing down and don't have this issue.) 3. Attractive design. Looks good on the counter (although I was hoping the "oatmeal" color was a little whiter to match my other kitchen appliances). 4. Easy to set up. 5. A breeze to use and controls are easy to understand. 6. Auto shutoff and programmable brewing. 7. Comes with a reusable basket for the grounds but you can also use paper filters (great, because we have a lot of them). 8. Comes with a coffee scoop. 9. Strong brew setting. Cons 1. The hinged lid is long, so it has to be pulled out from under our standard-height cabinets to fill with water. 2. At the end of the brew cycle a lot of steam comes out of the top. So much so that I would be concerned with it warping and discoloring our wooden cabinet bottoms from daily use. However, since we have to pull it out to fill it, we just leave out from under the cabinets while brewing. Overall, the Bella is a compact, good coffee maker at a good price. ... show more

Pros: Super quiet when brewing Temperature of coffee is perfect Brew speed is mid IT PROGRAMS! And you can choose between brewing your coffee bold or regular which I didn’t know about until I bought it 10/10. Great price Aesthetically pleasing Cons: I don’t have any. I was so excited to find a coffee pot that is the exact same shade of purple that’s my favorite color. I was pleasantly surprised to find a reusable coffee filter that came with the machine. The setup took less than 5 minutes from the start of opening the box all the way to programming the time for my coffee to brew the next morning. The coffee was already freshly brewed when I woke up for the day which 10000/10 was so excited about. The quality of this is way better than I imagined given some of the reviews I saw. The coffee itself dripped nicely, no mess or anything. The plate stayed hot for 2 hours. One feature I loved about this, is that it shows you how long the pot has been sitting since brewed. After 2 hours when the pot turns off it reverts back to the regular time. It’s nice to be able to see how long the pot had been sitting prior to serving myself. The counter space taken up is extremely minimal, this is a great coffee maker. ... show more

STANDARD: Auto shut-off at 2 hours. The clock is easy to set. I haven't used the programmer. PLUS(?): When the coffee finishes brewing, a count-up starts (to show how long the coffee has been kept warm). This displaces the clock for 2 hours and can cause confusion when you're used to looking at the clock. (a) Good feature if it were a separate read-out. (b) I would prefer a count-down, rather than a count-up, but that's just picky. MINUS: Probably the least convenient coffee maker I've ever used. (1) The hot water drip is anchored to the machine is such a way that it splits access to the reservoir into two small areas - very awkward trying to pour the water in. (2) Not sure what is the point of the tube from the lid to almost the bottom of the carafe - harder to rinse and clean. (3) The spout looks to be well designed, but is more dribbly than I expected. (4) The coffee is weaker and more oily than I'm used to. UPDATE: I'm getting a lot of grounds in my coffee lately. Usually, this means that the water isn't as hot as it should be (so it doesn't soak through as quickly, so the grounds float). UPDATE #2: The lid has started to flap open when I pour the coffee.
