  • It is extremely motivating!
One of my favorite things about Beginner Piano Elements is that it is extremely motivating! It is filled with inspiring language, easily understood graphics and creative, yet functional technique descriptions. The book provides simple, basic instruction for someone without any knowledge of the piano. I found it easy to begin and follow. The lessons advance little by little allowing the learner to progress healthfully without frustration. The book also contains helpful photos and charts that provide a visual explanation of the material. Another aspect of Beginner Piano Elements that I find to be excellent is the video that goes with each lesson. First off, the video lessons have an introduction of piano music that is quite inspiring. It really made me want to play! The videos consist of audio, visuals and text that further comprehension. Also, the videos are comfortable to listen to and provide further insight as to habits that should be followed, as well as those that should not be followed. Another bonus of the video is that you can hear what the lessons sound like which is something that really helped me. I recommend this book to anyone that wants to learn piano or simply brush up on old skills! ... show more

  • AMAZING! I bought this EBOOK BECAUSE I have NEITHER the time nor the money necessary to take formal piano lessons not to mention the patience. With this EBOOK lesson I can practice in the privacy of my home whenever I choose how often I choose on my electric piano. If I sounds terrible no one knows but me. With the instructors YouTube video as accompaniment I'm able to glean further info and tutelage . My only real complaint which isn't the instructors fault of course is the lack of correction as to certain technical error as a learner. However I realize this course is not meant to be perfect . If I want all of that I would have to make the sacrifice of paying for piano lessons at the youngish age of 55 years of age. But I won't as long as there's awesome instructors such as Damon Ferrante. Simple easy manageable lessons. Thank You Mr. Ferrante
AWESOME, EASY, FUN INSTRUCTIONS! Very easy to understand and practice for a novice! I'm finished with the first book and getting ready to start the second part. Realistically I know I'll never be a great pianist it's just something I've wanted to be able to do since childhood but my folks couldn't afford lessons much less a piano but I'm ok with only being a mediocre player just so long as I can play. I'm 55 years young but they say where that's a Will there's a way! ... show more

  • This book is wonderful
I love this book. It is easy to follow and so clear. It not only teaches technique but also how to read music and music terms in an easy to follow format. I would recommend this to anyone who is wanting to learn piano. I loved how it introduced chords and the left hand. It is so straight to the point and so easy to follow that a person who has never taken a music class could easily follow. The video instruction is great. They show you how to hold your hand. I learned that your suppose to lift your finger after every note, something I never knew. I think this book is a five out of five and would encourage you to try it. ... show more

  • A great first step in learning to play the piano.
Consider this book the perfect "starter kit" for learning to play and enjoy the piano. The "learn-by-doing" format engages the new player very quickly, and the progression from simple to more complex patterns is very non-threatening and logical. My only suggestions would be to a.) add an illustration of starting finger positions and b.) add a longer explanation in each section for anyone struggling with the concise short explanation. All in all, this may be the optimal starting point for an ascending pianist. ... show more

  • Exceptionally Beginner-Friendly!
I'm relatively inexperienced with pretty much every musical instrument that isn't a guitar and piano. Both of which were very amateur lessons, so I may as well have no experience worth considering other than very rudimentary posture while handling the instruments. However one thing I noticed fairly early on in this book was that my posture was wrong and my back and shoulders needed to be more aligned and my arms had to be looser (I was operating in the completely reverse fashion...) After learning the basic finger positions I feel a lot more comfortable and I'm ready to practice on the one old piano I have access to. Hopefully I can get some half-decent tunes out of it! ... show more

  • You Have GOT to be Kidding Me
Format: Paperback
Buyer Beware. First of all, PAY ATTENTION to what you are ordering here. This book ONLY contains 35 pages of instruction on playing the piano, ONE LESSON . . .per page. First lesson, you have ten fingers, five on each hand. No kidding. Secondly, and this is one of my pet peeves, the book is NOT spiral bound. ANY book for music, either lessons or sheet music etc., should always be spiral or comb bound so that it will lay flat on the music stand or piano music stand etc. It's just common sense. This one is not. Third, this DOES NOT INCLUDE the videos, you have to log on to YouTube and sort through all the other videos there to find the video for each lesson when you get there. Again. . . . a six minute lesson on your ten fingers. There are some other things that put this work on the bottom but are not worth the time mentioning. They sell a two buck book with some references to some very poorly produced YouTube videos for ten bucks, what an insult. ... show more

  • Good but Incomplete
The book steps you through the basics nice and slow, and you feel like you're making progress. But then the book just ends before you even learn to read a single note of actual music notation. It says to move on to book 2, but I can't find a book 2 anywhere. Reading other reviews, I wonder if the paper book is more complete than the e-book. ... show more

  • I was impressed by how clear the instructions were and how easily I was able to begin right off the bat
Starting out as a complete novice, I was impressed by how clear the instructions were and how easily I was able to begin right off the bat. Having access to a video to help illustrate each aspect was extremely useful. I am a visual learner so the pictures and videos are essential to my success. Even though this book says it is for adults, I could easily see this being used by children and young adults as well! Having it in electronic form makes it much more appealing to kids and teenagers who think print materials are too "old school!!" I will look forward to checking out the other publications as my music repertoire continues to grow. ... show more
