Gives firm hand hold on both sides for my senior getting out and into bed alone without falling. Works so well we ordered two more for other sides of the bed to be used as hand holds were bed placement did not allow for grab bars. Works great. The rail was fairly easy to assemble with only one of the bubbles not lining up exactly for a correct fit. By switching components I was able to make the parts fit. Once assembled the rail was easy to attach to the bed with the most difficult part being lifting the mattress. This has been a lifesaver for me! I just had back surgery and having this to hold on to when getting in or out of bed has helped a lot. There's a strap on it that goes around the bed frame for more stability but I didn't do that I just slid the one piece under the mattress and it's works just fine. I'm 165 lb so that's pretty good I think. You can change the height of it and it has a little pocket you can put stuff in, I've been using it for my brush and the remote.
