This bed rail is not just for the elderly- it's great for everyone, young and so-called old. This particular rail is an EXCELLENT value too (34.99). It's very easy to put together, the instructions are easy to understand and have pictures that make everything even easier, but even without the directions, it's pretty straightforward and easy to figure out. It took less than ten minutes to put together. It's literally a snap and three screws- everything is included, including a little allen wrench to tighten the screws. The pocket on this rail is surprisingly useful. Sometimes our loved one's CGM (used for scanning a sensor to get a blood glucose reading) gets lost in the bed with them, but this pocket gives us a nice place to keep it so anyone can check their BG if/as needed without a lot of disruption to them. It's a very nice quality bed rail, it doesn't take up much space- it doesn't overwhelm the bed or the room it's in. All things considered, it blends in pretty well. It's worth using the strap around the base or box spring for better stability, but it has enough length that goes under the mattress to use this without using the strap. I simply slipped this under the mattress and it's working great, but again- it's not hard to imagine a little better stability with the strap secured around the base. This is such a simple way to add a layer of comfort and ease not just getting in and out of bed, but for turning over too- and let's not forget how convenient the pocket is, lol. It's also just nice to have a handle nearby, in general. It's worth the purchase for temporary use too- this really helps with common (transient) back issues, and other general issues that come and go. It's great for all kinds of things that make it a little harder to move around in bed- including a mattress that's too soft!! Ask me how I know. A mattress that's too soft can be nice, but sometimes it feels like quick sand- I would've loved having this when I was sleeping on a memory foam mattress that had almost zero support. We highly, HIGHLY recommend this bed rail to others- it's just perfect, for all kinds of reasons. I don't see a reason why anyone should wait until they're elderly for this- we'll probably end up ordering one for everyone in the house, lol- it's that's great.

This is for a bed rail with dual non-slip handles and a storage pocket. With a weight capacity of up to 350 lbs. and a universal fit that works on any bedframe size from twin to king, this rail offers versatility, safety, support, and functionality to elderly adults, or anyone who has mobility limits. It is made with strong 1.1" high quality carbon steel tubing that is a beautiful soft powder gray color. The thick padded dual handles are covered with soft slip-resistant cushioning to provide a 16" wide comfortable grip that creates a sense of safety. I ordered this to give my 96 year old mother the confidence and independence to get in and out of bed on her own. My mother has mobility issues that demand support that is reliable to prevent her from falling. I installed this rail on her bed so she can grab one of the two handles from almost anywhere in her bedroom. It includes a black nylon safety strap attached to the rail at its bottom then secured around the entire bed frame to firmly keep the rail in place. The safety strap needs to be several inches longer because I had to adjust it to its maximum length. After buckling the strap ends together I pinned a safety pin at the end that is adjustable to ensure it does not come apart. I also wish the strap was gray to match the rail, but that's a cosmetic concern I can live with. A large gray nylon storage pocket is attached to the rail to provide a handy place to hold mom's assortment of magnifying glasses and flashlights. It's only single-sided so a nice feature could have been to make it double-sided. Assembling the rail was relatively simple as there are few parts and only three screws. Instructions are included that are clearly and concisely written, which helped me put this together. Still, it took longer than I expected because some of the measurements were slightly off which prevented the parts from easily snapping into place. I had to do extra pushing and pulling to make it work but thankfully I was able to put this together for mom as I doubt that she could have done it. Final results are that the bed rail feels stable, strong, and supportive, which reassures my mom and those of us who take care of her. I endorse this rail and wholeheartedly recommend it.

I ordered this "Bed Rail for Elderly Adults" because I am an older adult and like many others, I am having quite a hard time getting in and out of bed. It came unassembled so I assembled it with the Allen wrench provided. I would love to get an electric set as it's so time consuming and hard on the hands. Followed the directions somewhat as I could not for the life of me find "number 1 and number 2 on the apparatus. So, I just did the best I could, and it looks just like the picture. One issue I had was the one screw on the handle would not go in until I loosened the top screw on the pole and this was after many attempts and many "why won't this screw in?" (attached photo) The bedside assist is very well made, cushioned handles, quality material and very sturdy for a regular bed. I have a couch bed, and this bedrail will not work properly on it. It just will not stay secure it just lifts up the mattress as I hold on to it, and it tilts along with me. Really nice bed rail though and even has a pocket for personal items along with a very long strap to secure it to your bed. Highly recommend. I am giving it to a friend whose father needs help and has a regular standard bed.
