UPDATE: I have a couple of pairs of Bearpaw pile-lined boots, and they’re comfortable and they’re good quality. So, I trust the Bearpaw brand. I returned the size 7, and I ordered a size 8. In the 8, the tip of my big toe is where it should be, but it has a high toe box, so it felt so large, much larger than the 7. I have to really tighten them. They don’t have a 7.5 in the color I like. I’ve walked less than 2 miles in them in two days. Tightened up, they fit alright; but, the footbed feels cupped (not fitting to my foot) and doesn’t have the cushion I was hoping to have in a shoe that I bought for walking/hiking about 4 miles a day for an upcoming trip. It’s a cute design, but not totally comfortable. Original review: I consistently wear a 7.5 in everyday shoes. (I go a 1/2 size up for running and hiking shoes.) Following the product description and some reviews that said to go down a size, I ordered a size 7. Just got them. They’re too small! :( The felt like they’ll be Uber comfortable, at the right size, so I ordered a size 8. I’ll update my review when I get the replacement order.

I really like these hiking shoes, but they were big on me. I usually wear an 8 in dress shoes/boots and an 81/2 in athletic shoes and I have a wider foot, so I thought an 8 would be fine maybe a tad tight. Well, I definitely could have gone down to a 71/2 maybe even a 7. I’m going to try out a really good insert because the one they provide isn’t the softest and doesn’t have good arch support at all, so I’m hoping once I do that, they will be fine. They are really nice and rugged-looking and the tread appears to be great which is what I am most excited about. I’ve been slipping and sliding in regular athletic shoes on the trails for far too long. So for the price, these seem to be much higher quality than expected. Just order at least a half size (maybe even a whole size) down. I’m not sure if someone with a narrow foot could make them work.

Field biologist here. I bought these with low expectations; I just wanted a low-cut field shoe. They have far exceeded my expectations and have become my primary field footwear (more than my boots!). The sole is quite grippy, giving secure footing on scree and in mud. The insole is comfortable, far more so than my Lowa Renegade boots. As some other reviewers have indicated, they run a touch large but not enough for me to go down a half size. If they feel uncomfortably roomy on you, Google "runner's lacing" to learn about alternative ways of lacing your shoes to give a more snug fit.

I read reviews and decided to try this shoe. It came, looked good, loved the tread on it but then I put them on. I pulled the shoestrings as tight as I could hoping that would help but it didnt. These are very wide and yes I have narrow feet but the reviews were all over the place so I decided to try them anyway. Its a very good shoe but just too wide for my feet.

i live on oahu and go to hiking a lot, and these shoes are so perfect for it! doesn’t feel tight , super comfortable inner sole, and my feet don’t feel too hot. would definitely recommend! if you have feet that tend to get got, i would maybe recommend something a little airier, these can at times feel a bit warm but i don’t have hot feet so worked great for me!

I like this shoe! I should have checked the reviews before ordering, because I would have sized down as so many said. I’m typically an 8.5 and bought the 9, because I have wide feet and it’s typically better to go up. But these have LOTS of room. Maybe even a little too long. But I like to wear them with thick ankle socks and they’re perfect if I’m on my feet all day and thus experience swelling in my feet and ankles by the end of the day. Would recommend, especially for the price! Very comfortable and hold up to wear so far.

First off I love BearPaw brand so I was super excited to find these hiking shoes! Although they do run a little big you can tie them to fit comfortably around your ankle, I would say only go down a half of size unless you have wide feet or thicker ankles then go with your normal size. I just got them today and went on a little hike and they are very comfortable and cute! I definitely recommend, especially for the price.
