This is only the beard straightener I've owned, so I'm not sure how long they normally last. After 2 years most of the outer plastic things have fallen off, and most of the ones in the center that cover the hearing elements. Over time it looks like they just get brittle and break off from as little as just placing it on the counter. But it did work well for 2 years.
