I purchased this Drill Press Stand to hold a Soldiering Iron to heat press brass nuts into 3D Printed Plastic Parts. Here is what I discovered with this item. See attached pic with notes for info. This product looks really nice on line. The color(s) is what attracted me. It does have a good price point. But, be prepared to fix a lot of stuff. If the manufacturer took the time to dial in the details and quality this product really has potential. If you have access to 3D printing much of this can be fixed or improved; without 3D printing you might be disappointed in this product. ... show more

I got a used like new condition product and there was nothing wrong with it so I saved some money. The instructions were disappointing but I did not need it. It fits my DeWalt DW511 8.5 amps corded hammer drill perfectly. There are dedicated drill presses that cost a little bit more.....but the power were only 2.3 to 6.1 amps. I need to drill steel so I prefer my powerful USA-made 8.5 amp hand drill over the chinese-made lower amp drill presses. Very stable platform and the only thing that I wished it had was a second mid section table. The other weakness is that speed control is by trigger depression on my hand drill while a dedicated drill press has better speed control. For a occasional use drill press that does not take much room and cost less than a dedicated drill press, I recommend this product if you already have a powerful hand drill by Milwaukee or Dewalt. Attached is a photo of the sliding bar that makes it a stable platform. The yellow trapezoidal steel bar slides up and down inside the green tight fitting female steel cavity. To drill mild steel, use a cobalt drill bit, protap cutting fluid and your drill set at low speed. For big holes in mild steel two passes may be necessary: 1/8 inch dia cobalt drill bit for the pilot hole and then use a larger size drill bit which can be non-cobalt. The second photo shows a cross handle to my DeWalt DW 511 corded drill. If your corded drill has this cross handle then this drill press should work but you should verify the diameter. If you do not have a cross handle then this means you have a low power drill which may not work. Generally this drill press is designed for powerful corded drills and not the low power drills ... show more

    • Excellent base for a custom tool
Used this for mounting a soldering iron for pushing threaded brass inserts into plastic parts. The dovetail slide works well and came pre-adjusted from the factory. The post is from thin steel and may be easy to bend. Some if not all of the castings are cast aluminum, but should hold up to lighter use. This makes an excellent base for any special tool requiring a drill press motion. Or mount your rotary tool. ... show more

Was anice idea but turned out to pretty much be a POS, assembly doesnt stay tight, it wobbles, we gave it a good try but.... get what you pay for i guess
