1st set up was kinda wonky and it kept coming down, but once you get the hang of it, it's awesome. Important to stretch out all 4 corners. Fill with sand and then we pulled super tight again and then buried the sand pouches, this kept them from moving at all. Then places poles in each corner and be sure to secure with the ties. Wished we would've gotten this before for our beach trips! Would pack in a large check on bag as well. For a beach shelter this is compact and lightweight to carry compared to a metal canopy type, and gives so so much more shade than just an umbrella. Can't pack that umbrella on the plane! We took this on our week long beach vacation in North Carolina. It is VERY windy here on the beach. It was a struggle the first day trying to get it set up with all the wind. The trick is to stretch it out all the way so when the poles are put under it is very tight. Once we got this down set up was a lot easier and it has held up really well in the high winds. I recommend at least 2 people for set up. Not sure how someone would be able to do it alone. The compact size is really nice and all in all has been great for our vacation ... show more

This material (imagine elastic textbook covers) was a thing of nightmares. This is clearly advertised as being intended for beach use, however I spent nearly an hour fighting this canopy in a vain attempt at shade on the beach. I got rope burn from the support cables, we filled the bags to the brim with sand and buried them and it still managed to collapse and fly away with the metal rods flailing in the wind. Once I figured out the best practices for setting this up, it was the perfect shade provision. I actually saw versions of this all over the beach, so I guess it's trending, but for good reason. It is so lightweight that you aren't going to struggle with lugging it to the beach, and one person can easily set it up, unlike those other bulky canopies. Now, it did collapse on me twice before I figured out the best way to keep it stable, so learn from my initial mistakes, and you should have no trouble. First, really FILL those sandbags, like almost to overflowing. Then, stretch the sides out as far as you can like you're trying to draw and quarter someone. Put the poles in mostly straight up but you may need to angle them slightly depending on the direction of the wind. Finally, actually USE the ropes and pegs provided, but instead of attaching them as pictured going in opposite directions, look at how the wind is blowing and line them up against the wind to stop the poles from falling over. Dig a small hole in the sand, screw the pegs in until they're steady, tie the ropes tight, and bury the pegs so only their tops are visible. I also poured some water over the sand to pack it down more. I just spent the day at a windy beach where my hat kept blowing off, but this held steady all day. Taking it down and packing it up is just as easy, and I don't know what kind of miracle fabric this thing is made out of, but the sand falls right off it, even wet sand. Compact, lightweight, fabric is ok, cord and anchor point are ok, Matt was a nice touch, sponged ball is great. Pole material for beach alway get oxidation, this is a big issue. Tent sometimes works great and sometimes follows apart and collapses. It would be a good touch if they could sell it with a lateral shade fabric and change the pole material to avoid oxidation. We had this set up for approximately four days, and then entered a 12 hour rainy day with wind up to 15 miles an hour. It held steady all day until it got up to about 15 and that’s when it collapsed. I can’t fault it for that. The first time I set it up, it took me about 20 to 25 minutes Because the instructions were very vague. However, when I set this up the second time it was less than 10 minutes. The important part is to fill up the sandbags first. Then do each one by one and hooking up the rope one by one. You will have to do minor adjustments to make sure the posts are vertical, but 10 out of 10 will keep this. ... show more

This was impossible to set up with less than 5 people in a 10 MPH wind. The steaks do not hold in sand. When it was set up it had about 5’ of clearance underneath so you can’t stand up straight and was very flimsy and kept falling over in the wind.
