  • My Wife and I Installed a 90"x36" Piece 7 Feet Off the Ground, On Top of a Ladder. It Was Super Easy
Size: 36in X 25ft
The most challenging part was getting us both up the ladder while holding the 90" long piece without having the film adhere to itself. Other than that, installation was a breeze. I highly recommend watching their video tutorials on Youtube. It breaks down the entire installation process in a 5 minute video as well as provides key highlights in individual mini-tutorials. My best piece of advise is to spray A LOT of water. They said it best, "There is no such thing as too much water, but there is such a thing as too little." The water makes it super easy to move around and position the film onto the window so you don't have to be an expert to do it if you use enough water. More importantly, the water helps to prevent the film from sticking onto itself. If it sticks then that piece is done for. To break down the quality of the product - it looks phenomenal. You can not notice that there is a film there. Only way our guest would know is if we told them. My wife and I can notice the difference between a window with a film and a window without. The windows with the film have a bit of a oily water sheen to it but it is only barely noticeable and only when there is something solid behind it like a tree. If looking into the sky, you can't see it. The product comes with everything you need minus the spray bottle and tape measure. It comes with a knife which was surprisingly very sharp and great quality. To put the knife and perhaps the overall quality of the product into perspective, we first threw the included knife aside and opted for one of our Olfa knives. Even if it is a little dull from cutting through foam for cosplay crafting, surely a dull Olfa knife is better than what they threw in with the film, right? Wrong. The Olfa took my wife several passes and all it did score the film. I suggested using the one provided with the film and it cut through the film like butter on the first pass. Maybe I am putting too much meaning behind their quality of the knife they provided or maybe it's the quality in the details that matter most and the manufacture of this film understood that. I didn't do a temperature test but maybe I'll update this review to reflect on if we noticed the room being cooler. Temperature isn't so important to us since our A/C unit blows absolutely freezing air directly at us. The reason we installed the UV film is because of all our artwork we have hanging on our walls. We have quite a few very expensive and meaningful pieces and we would like to see it preserved as long as possible. This would be just additional step we could take to preserving our original art pieces while improving our household. All for less than $100. Great value! Perfect for those who are now working remotely from home due to COVID-19 and noticed that there's a lot of sunlight hitting the artwork! ... show more

  • Nearly impossible!
Size: 36in X 15ft
The videos make this product appear easy to install. Not even close! This film is: -very easy to kink -not pliable -extremely tacky no matter how much soapy water you spray on the film and the window -impossible to move or align the instant after it makes ANY contact with the window -again, no matter how soaking wet the film or the glass may be, it will stick for good. I have a great deal of home improvement and handyman experience. I believe in doing things well, and lucky to have an aptitude for it. I always read instructions, often more than once, and watched the manufacturers video twice. Looks like putting up wallpaper, no problem!? Wrong. I've done plenty of wallpaper over the decades. Never one problem. Installing this film (with adhesive, apparently water activated) is like putting up magnetized wallpaper using super glue! If the initial contact is not perfect in every way, forget about it! There is no chance of tweaking or adjusting after initial contact! The adhesive is amazing in how fast and strongly that it sticks to the window even with an awful lot of of soapy water on the glass and the film. I followed the instructions to a T! The video is very misleading. I was putting it on a 32" x 72" slider window. It should be easier on much smaller windows. But I still don't recommend this product at all. It was a great waste of time! ... show more

  • This product is great!
Size: 24in X 12ft
I have a SouthWest window that's quite big and just soaks up the hot So Cali sun all afternoon making our bedroom very warm. I put this on the window and it's made such a difference, I will probably apply it to other windows, too. Application was fairly easy, just follow the directions closely and you'll be fine. I did discover a few things that might make it easier: When you put the tape on the corners, leave the tiniest bit overhanging the edge on both pieces of tape. For whatever reason, when the two tape pieces actually stick together and then peel apart, it makes the film separate easier. You can reuse the tape that came with the product or making tape. Also, when smoothing bubbles out, once you have it done, do it again. Then back up about ten feet and check for bubbles, or wobbly vision spots in the window-those need to be squeezed out to the edge. After you clean up your project mess, come back and check for bubbles/wobbles again. Seems like they will appear as the film begins to really adhere, but keep squeezing them out and you will get great results. Don't let the sticky side come into contact with itself (ruins the film). I was doing a large window, so I only peeled back about 18" from the top and applied that first and then gently peeled more as it went. Keep your window and film wet, it's very important. If you have to use two pieces for one window, match the side seams first and trim the top and bottom and other side after. If you do it well, you won't be able to see the seam. I love the transparency of this film and that it is NOT mirrored on the outside so the windows don't appear different from outside. ... show more

  • Looks good and reduces UV but be careful about the 99% claim
Size: 30in X 25ft
So I have some basic tools to measure UV light. They aren't the most precise tools but if this blocks "99%" of UV light then even with some basic tools it should go from alot to ALMOST none right? Yeah no. Does it block UV? YES! Does it block 99%.... I doubt it. I can't tell you the exact amount but it doesn't look like 99% to me. I would say 50-80% maybe? I am using it as a way to passively reduce random UV exposure in my house. It works well enough for my needs. Do you need it to keep rare items away from UV damage or because of major health concerns.... this may not work for you. If you NEED almost complete removal of UV light I would advise you look elsewhere or maybe double the layers to help? If you want to just cut out a big chuck of UV light then sure this works. It is a little tricky to install BUT if you follow their guide it isn't so bad. My windows aren't huge though if you had to do it on a massive window it might become a pain to do. It does look basically 100% clear and invisible if you do it right. Good overall but be careful about the 99% UV reduction claim. I would like to see 3rd party laboratory proof or something to back up that claim. ... show more

  • Doesn't block 99% of UV, but blocks enough Doesn't block 99% of UV, but blocks enough
Size: 24in X 12ft
I saw the other reviews complaining that this didn't appear to be block UV. It does, just not 99%, more like 80%. See the pictures for before/after on a sunny day. This was fine for my uses. The reviews using the purple test cards are generally mistaken -- those cards are checking for germicidal (high) levels of UV within a very narrow wavelength band and usually provide only a yes/no answer, so are not good for testing broad spectrum UV performance at different levels of intensity. Similar goes for using UV-reactive money. The meter in my pictures reports UV index, which is designed for wavelengths that cause tanning and skin cancer, but the scale is linear so dropping from 6.0 to 1.0 is indeed 80% lower. On a 20" wide window it was easy to install on the first try, even with zero prior experience with window films. Just drench everything. I actually dropped it on the floor once because it was so slippery with all the water. ... show more

  • Effectively blocks 95% of UV light Effectively blocks 95% of UV light
Size: 30in X 12ft
I've bought this product before without testing it. I needed to apply some more film to different windows and wanted to make sure it was actually working as advertised. I bought a high quality UV light meter from amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GT4EKF6?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details) to make sure it was effective. As you can see in the photos, I cut off a small triangle of the film and removed the backing. Then, I stuck my UV light meter in the dappled sunlight entering my home and got a reading of 1434 microwatts per centimeter squared (Direct sunlight produces over 2000 microwatts per centimeter squared of UV light, for comparison). I applied the film over the sensor and then got a reading of 52 microwatts per centimeter squared. So, this film blocked about 95% of the UV light in this test. I personally believe that's very effective and therefore it's worth using this film. It's definitely not the 99% advertised, but still pretty good. Your other option is to have window film installed by a professional. Rather than spending $30 on this project, I would have spent a quoted $700. I'd say that's a good savings, even if it's not top notch performance. As for applying the film and how it looks afterwards - it takes some practice to get the application correct, but eventually you can get a good result. You can definitely notice the film if you're up close to the window looking for it, but if you're a normal person standing 2+ft away from the window, you'd never notice. ... show more

  • The actual film isn't the best quality.
Size: 24in X 12ft
It's pretty easy to install, use plenty of soapy water, but the actual item quality isn't the best, my roll had tons of knicks and creases in it.

  • Horrible product to install!
Size: 24in X 12ft
The product is extremely very hard to handle. It creases and folds into contorted ways and you have to battle to put enough moisture under the film, remove the extra film it is attached to, squeegee the film to remove bubbles, and cut the excess film on the window edge all at the same time!!! This is while time is running out because the film gets dry and stick to the window and in contorted fashion and you may have to start all over again. We tore the film in two or three places. It was a disaster! Better to get a professional to install it or get some other product like UV blinds! My husband and I both tried to install it together because of the installation difficulties, and we were both frustrated and exhausted and angry at each other from how ridiculously hard it was to try to put the film on the window. It looks very simple but it is extremely hard and the results looked horrible. Do not recommend. We purchased two for another window and that one came crushed in the box and it is going to be returned! And we are never repurchasing this product ever again!!! ... show more
