Description

BDF is a premier window film company that offers a wide range of high-quality and stylish window films to customers. We have various types of window films can provide practical solutions for window-related needs, such as sun control, enhanced daytime privacy, security, decoration, opacity, and protection from UV rays. Our window films in various colors and appearance can add elegance and sophistication to your home or office. An excessive amount of water solution (16 oz. water + 8 drops liquid soap) will make handling the film easy. Spraying soapy water on the adhesive as you pull off the liner will prevent the film from being too sticky. To remove the liner, use two pieces of tape, attaching them to a corner (one on each side, facing each other). Press the tapes together, and then slowly separate the two pieces. The films are installed inside unless the film is specified as "exterior film". Blocks 99% of UV BDF's S2M Clear 2 mil window film provides optimal UV protection without any tint. Clear window & daylight Enjoy incoming daylight and keep a clear window without the harmful UV rays from the sun. Holds light glass pieces The film also holds together light shattered glass pieces if the window breaks for greater safety. Same film the pros use We wanted to bring the same UV protection films that businesses use to the public. S2M is unmatched in terms of visibility and clarity. Good for homes and office buildings directly exposed to the public, this glass film provides excellent UV rejection while remaining unseen. The film can also hold light shattered glass pieces together for greater safety in case of glass breakage. S2MC window film provides an excellent UV-blocking barrier. Being exposed to UV rays can cause skin problems such as premature aging skin and signs of wrinkles and eye problems. The S2MC film rejects about 99% of the UV rays, helping to reduce fading on your precious furniture, and pictures. BDF S2M window film is the same one that is used by professionals. Many businesses and home owners have had this film installed by pros, and now you can have UV-protective windows at a fraction of the cost. Our products come with tools needed to get your job done, and an installation guide is included to help you with a smooth installation process. With the right amount of care, practice, and patience, both installation and removal of the film should be simple and easy. S2M (2 mil UV blocking) S4MC (clear 4 mil) S4MB05 (very dark black) S4MB20 (dark black) S4MB35 (medium black) S4MB50 (light black) We provide tools and information to help make the DIY work easier. The video guide shows an overview of the installation steps. Reviewing and following the proper steps allows a clean and smooth application process, so that you can then enjoy the benefits of the newly installed window film - whether it is the energy efficiency made possible by a sun control film, the added protection and peace of mind of a security film, or the stylish aesthetics of a decorative film. We provide tools and information to help make the DIY work easier. Using an excessive amount of water solution (16 oz. water + 8 drops liquid soap such as baby shampoo) will make handling the film easier. Spraying water solution on the adhesive as you pull off the liner will prevent the film from being too sticky. This will also reduce or eliminate the potential for wrinkles and bubbles during installation. Once the film is properly placed on the window, the soapy water should be pushed out using the squeegee with appropriate pressure applied. Attached to the film is a clear layer called the backing liner. This layer covers the adhesive or cling side of the actual film layer; the liner needs to be removed when you install the film. The best way is to use two pieces of tape on a corner (one on each side, facing each other). One piece would grab onto the film, and the other onto the liner. Press the tapes together, and then slowly separate the two pieces to pull the two layers away from each other. Static reaction happens when the backing liner is taken apart from the film. It may cause the film to stick to itself, which makes that film useless. To prevent this, spray the soapy water solution as you carefully pull off the backing liner. The window surface should also be sprayed with plenty of the soapy water. This can be used to clean the window before applying the film, and allows you to move the film around on the window without it getting stuck on the surface. Why does the film not stick to the window? / Why did the film fall off from the window a few hours later? There is a clear "backing liner" layer attached to the actual "film" layer. The backing liner covers the adhesive on the film so that the film does not prematurely stick. When you install the film, the backing liner needs to be peeled off from it. Which of the two layers is the film, and which is the backing liner? The actual window film that you install is thicker than the backing liner, which would be removed and discarded when you install the film. The side of the film that the backing liner is covering has the sticky adhesive. Can this film be used to reduce incoming heat? This is a clear film with no tint, so it is not intended for heat control. For reducing incoming heat, you would need to use a tinted film designed for heat control. This film does block most of UV, which can help reduce fading of furnishings. Why did bubbles (or spots where film is not adhering properly) form after the film was installed? This is due to the moisture left inside. The film may appear fine when installed, but afterwards, the water can interfere with the adhesive and cause bubbles to form. Apply firm pressure with the squeegee and push out the water to prevent bubbles. Is the film applied on the interior or exterior side of the window? This film is intended for the interior side.

  • My Wife and I Installed a 90"x36" Piece 7 Feet Off the Ground, On Top of a Ladder. It Was Super Easy
Size: 36in X 25ft
The most challenging part was getting us both up the ladder while holding the 90" long piece without having the film adhere to itself. Other than that, installation was a breeze. I highly recommend watching their video tutorials on Youtube. It breaks down the entire installation process in a 5 minute video as well as provides key highlights in individual mini-tutorials. My best piece of advise is to spray A LOT of water. They said it best, "There is no such thing as too much water, but there is such a thing as too little." The water makes it super easy to move around and position the film onto the window so you don't have to be an expert to do it if you use enough water. More importantly, the water helps to prevent the film from sticking onto itself. If it sticks then that piece is done for. To break down the quality of the product - it looks phenomenal. You can not notice that there is a film there. Only way our guest would know is if we told them. My wife and I can notice the difference between a window with a film and a window without. The windows with the film have a bit of a oily water sheen to it but it is only barely noticeable and only when there is something solid behind it like a tree. If looking into the sky, you can't see it. The product comes with everything you need minus the spray bottle and tape measure. It comes with a knife which was surprisingly very sharp and great quality. To put the knife and perhaps the overall quality of the product into perspective, we first threw the included knife aside and opted for one of our Olfa knives. Even if it is a little dull from cutting through foam for cosplay crafting, surely a dull Olfa knife is better than what they threw in with the film, right? Wrong. The Olfa took my wife several passes and all it did score the film. I suggested using the one provided with the film and it cut through the film like butter on the first pass. Maybe I am putting too much meaning behind their quality of the knife they provided or maybe it's the quality in the details that matter most and the manufacture of this film understood that. I didn't do a temperature test but maybe I'll update this review to reflect on if we noticed the room being cooler. Temperature isn't so important to us since our A/C unit blows absolutely freezing air directly at us. The reason we installed the UV film is because of all our artwork we have hanging on our walls. We have quite a few very expensive and meaningful pieces and we would like to see it preserved as long as possible. This would be just additional step we could take to preserving our original art pieces while improving our household. All for less than $100. Great value! Perfect for those who are now working remotely from home due to COVID-19 and noticed that there's a lot of sunlight hitting the artwork! ... show more

  • Clean and clear
Size: 24in X 12ft
I bought this to protect quilts from fading in the sunlight inside a glass-fronted cabinet. Applied to the inside, even on slightly wavy antique glass, the film went on smoothly, without any bubbles. It’s absolutely invisible, undetectable on either side of the glass. The included tools were great, a silicone edge squeegee and a utility knife for trimming away excess film. Good instructions and tools made for a successful installation. ... show more

  • Nearly impossible!
The videos make this product appear easy to install. Not even close! This film is: -very easy to kink -not pliable -extremely tacky no matter how much soapy water you spray on the film and the window -impossible to move or align the instant after it makes ANY contact with the window -again, no matter how soaking wet the film or the glass may be, it will stick for good. I have a great deal of home improvement and handyman experience. I believe in doing things well, and lucky to have an aptitude for it. I always read instructions, often more than once, and watched the manufacturers video twice. Looks like putting up wallpaper, no problem!? Wrong. I've done plenty of wallpaper over the decades. Never one problem. Installing this film (with adhesive, apparently water activated) is like putting up magnetized wallpaper using super glue! If the initial contact is not perfect in every way, forget about it! There is no chance of tweaking or adjusting after initial contact! The adhesive is amazing in how fast and strongly that it sticks to the window even with an awful lot of of soapy water on the glass and the film. I followed the instructions to a T! The video is very misleading. I was putting it on a 32" x 72" slider window. It should be easier on much smaller windows. But I still don't recommend this product at all. It was a great waste of time! ... show more

  • Good deal on the Clear Film
Size: 48in X 12ft
I wanted UV reduction. I cannot say for sure that i got that because i don't have a way to measure UV. I was not expecting heat reduction as i chose their Clear film. It IS clear; i cannot tell the difference between the window that has it and the one that does not. However, all of the windows have lost their seal and they are cloudy in spots, so i cannot say what it would look like on a truly clean window. The backer that comes off of it is thicker than the film by 3 and seems a shame to waste but i could not think of a use for it. Make sure you toss the sticky one. This film went on fairly easy, but for our 4' x 6' windows it took two of us. Tip: make sure you clean off the top of the window frame and trim or you'll knock dust onto the film as your are putting it on. We wet all sides and put it on one window using a squeegee i bought from a car store. The squeegee was too flexible and made for difficult time as well as rainbow spider silk scratches all over the film. They are only visible from certain angles when light shows through, but we will redo that window. My buddy who washes windows for a living, then took out his professional squeegee which is rigid framed with nice, fresh rubber, on the second window and that worked great. Make sure to wet the film before squeegeeing it each time. dont do it dry ever. You can use the little one they include, it is good for the job, but on a 4x6 window, it would have taken forever. Once applied, we were trimming up the window film and i stepped out of the way, in front of an untreated window and there was a clear heat difference. I have a laser temperature meter, but can't find it. When i do, i'll post something on it. So i will order a bunch more now. The stuff that Home Depot had in stock (Gila) was either reflective or too dark, which is ok in certain circumstances, but not here. I mostly want UV reduction with lots of light. I will be requesting samples from BDF to see what other darknesses they have tho. ... show more

  • Doesn't block 99% of UV, but blocks enough
Size: 24in X 12ft
I saw the other reviews complaining that this didn't appear to be block UV. It does, just not 99%, more like 80%. See the pictures for before/after on a sunny day. This was fine for my uses. The reviews using the purple test cards are generally mistaken -- those cards are checking for germicidal (high) levels of UV within a very narrow wavelength band and usually provide only a yes/no answer, so are not good for testing broad spectrum UV performance at different levels of intensity. Similar goes for using UV-reactive money. The meter in my pictures reports UV index, which is designed for wavelengths that cause tanning and skin cancer, but the scale is linear so dropping from 6.0 to 1.0 is indeed 80% lower. On a 20" wide window it was easy to install on the first try, even with zero prior experience with window films. Just drench everything. I actually dropped it on the floor once because it was so slippery with all the water. ... show more

  • Effectively blocks 95% of UV light
Size: 30in X 12ft
I've bought this product before without testing it. I needed to apply some more film to different windows and wanted to make sure it was actually working as advertised. I bought a high quality UV light meter from amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GT4EKF6?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details) to make sure it was effective. As you can see in the photos, I cut off a small triangle of the film and removed the backing. Then, I stuck my UV light meter in the dappled sunlight entering my home and got a reading of 1434 microwatts per centimeter squared (Direct sunlight produces over 2000 microwatts per centimeter squared of UV light, for comparison). I applied the film over the sensor and then got a reading of 52 microwatts per centimeter squared. So, this film blocked about 95% of the UV light in this test. I personally believe that's very effective and therefore it's worth using this film. It's definitely not the 99% advertised, but still pretty good. Your other option is to have window film installed by a professional. Rather than spending $30 on this project, I would have spent a quoted $700. I'd say that's a good savings, even if it's not top notch performance. As for applying the film and how it looks afterwards - it takes some practice to get the application correct, but eventually you can get a good result. You can definitely notice the film if you're up close to the window looking for it, but if you're a normal person standing 2+ft away from the window, you'd never notice. ... show more

  • Not an easy job
Size: 30in X 25ft
I really needed a product like this, but I couldn't get it shipped to me without damage. The 1st time the box was crushed so I reordered, and the 2nd time it was just as bad. The ends of the tube were not reinforced at all, and there was no packing material around the roll. After a little run-around, I eventually had to return the 2nd order to Amazon and order the product directly from the company. That 3rd order did arrive without damage, and I was able to install it. I had installed window film before, but it is not an easy job. On all of my windows I worked as quickly as I could, and the job went beautifully until the last cut which was the bottom edge of the window. For some reason there are particles under the film only on the bottom edge. Since that was the last edge to get glued down tightly, I figured maybe it got too dry because the windows and surrounding area were spotless before I started. I used a ton of water on both sides of the film so I don't know how it could have dried. The material is too expensive to rip it off and start over, and my problem is just on the bottom edge so I'm keeping it, but probably won't do window film again. I bought it just for the UV protection, and I won't know for a while if it really works to prevent fading of furniture. ... show more

  • Easy to apply (if directions are followed)
Size: 24in X 12ft
As long as you follow the video instructions, it's super easy to apply. Can't even tell there's anything on the windows. I don't have any way to test if they actually block UV or not, but I hope they do.
