  • Darkness
This is amazing it truly blocks all the light out

  • A little tricky to install - but does the job
I purchased this to black out a double-hung window in my grow room to block any light during the flowering period. It was a little tricky to install for sure, but it does a great job. Depending on how much care you take trimming it can leave a little glass showing on the edges and it might be fine for your application. For me I need it 100% dark so I just covered these areas with black tape. Getting all the bubbles out can take some time too. I did not need a real finished look so I did not work them all out, but it can be done - just takes time. Depending on the size of piece(s) you are working with (mine were approx 22x30), it can be tough to control. It wants to curl and stick back on itself. It's really a two person job and to be fair the instructions note that as well. I did it on my own - but got the job done. I still give it five stars since it does block all the light. I don't think you can find a film type product that would be "easy" to install. It takes some time and patience. So if you don't have either, just get some black construction paper, tape it to your window and be done with it. But if you want a nice clean look and are willing to spend some time getting it installed - I can definitely recommend this product. It does what it's designed to do. ... show more

  • Works well, But take your time
I was a bit worried since a few reviews on here say its see through or it doesn't stick well. Well those reviews are BS. They're either lying or didn't bother to apply it right. It does require a bit of effort to apply this. They aren't kidding when they say to soak both the window and the film. If you don't, the film will stick to the window like tape. When both are wet the film is easy to adjust and move, or even remove to get a better angle. Once you apply it make sure to use the squeegee they provide to push out any air bubbles. You'll have to do this several times for a couple days. Like I said, good things require a little effort. It's also completely opaque. I tried looking through it on both sides during the day and night. I couldn't see anything. I even used my 1000 Lumen surefire flashlight to find if any light can get through. The best I could see was just the LED lens of the flashlight with a red tint. Most household lights don't produce 1000 lumens, since its completely blinding. If that's the best I could see then I think I can trust this stuff. I trust it well enough that I'm currently using it for a large bay window in my bedroom. I don't have any curtains or shades anymore. The only problem is that now I really need to rely on clocks since I can't tell if it's day or night at all. ... show more

  • Very dark
Very dark. No light visible. Tricky to install by yourself. Shows creases and bubbles very clearly on the outside of the window. Has been stuck for months now and no sign of coming off yet.

  • Definitely use a friend to assist in installing it,

  • HOOAH!!!
This stuff really blacks out the light. Best to practice with a small piece to get the hang of it. I messed up the first big piece some as I tried to peel off the backing while holding it up in the air. It's very sticky so of course it stuck together. I was able to peel it apart and use it but it's messed up. I layed the second piece on the bed and carefully peeled it apart and had a much more professional appearance on the second one. It's so dark though, you can't see through it even with the sun directly on it. So I'm gonna peel it off before my plant dies and am getting a blackout remote control shade so I can put it up after I finally get up as I work evenings. The bedroom is nice and dark now though. ... show more

  • and there was just nothing that made it look like there was a film
I swear I could not recognize that there was a clear film on this until after I had applied it. I tried to separate the clear film from the tint for several minutes, and there was just nothing that made it look like there was a film. I tried the two pieces of tape method several times, and nothing! I tried wrinkling it in between my fingers, nothing. The edge looked razor sharp, and there was no clear film that I could see. I thought they had changed their product or something. This is my first time using something like this. I applied it to the window, and then randomly stumbled across a random person's youtube video..not the manufacturer instructions, but just a regular schmoe. They had problem finding the clear film to take off from the tinted side, and they said the only way they could manage to separate the two is if they tore a corner of it. I did the same with a scrap piece that I had leftover...and I groaned. I'm wondering if it will stay stuck to my window. Maybe it will. If it does come off I am hoping I will be able to finally take off the clear film and get it applied to the window. I'll leave my review with this...there is absolutely no indication in how it is packed on which side is the clear film and which is the tint. And unless you have eyes as good as Geordi from Star Trek The Next Generation, you might not be able to see a difference either. If I need any more film, I won't buy it from this manufacturer again. ... show more
