  • 12v Shower
We had a broken hot water pipe under our foundation, and no hot water for weeks. I bought this for a quick shower setup. This review is for the the 1.2 gal/m model. It's a diaphragm pump, of course it makes noise; volume increases with load. It's a lower frequency buzzing/vibrating sound which gets amplified if the pump is mounted on something that resonates. The actual noise volume is pretty low, but it drones and I can see how people might find it annoying. Mount it in a foam box and you can barely hear it. The feet are rubber, and mounted on a dovetail. They don't "break off" as other users posted. If they fall off, you just slide them back on. Good design. They help with damping the noise. The connectors do not leak. If they leak, it's because of incorrect usage or a defective unit. I used 3/8 medical grade silicone tubing for pickup and output, and a single zip tie on the output side; no clamp on the input side. Zero leaks. A zip tie worked because I had minimal pressure on the output side with a shower head. I tested with full pressure though by putting the shower head in trickle mode, and still no leaks. It handles shower temp water no problem - about 110 degrees F. Power usage depends on load. It draws less than 1 amp while showering - around 10 watts. Again, power usage increases with load, so you will see full power draw at full capacity. I am using this pump for a makeshift shower, as we have a major plumbing issue in hour house which will take weeks to fix. It's connected to a standard shower wand (a spare one I had), and I use a 12 gallon tank that sits in the far end of the tub. Power comes from a small-ish power bank through a 12v cigarette lighter plug and a waterproof switch. Works fantastic. Waaaay better than one of those battery powered camp showers, easily twice the flow and pressure, and gives you a "normal" shower experience using a normal shower head. ... show more

  • Shower repair.
I bought this pump to replace a 'd' battery pack/shower pump for an instant hot water camping shower. The original pump is pictured, i found out that it had taken a crap on me when I checked it prior to a week long camping trip. I looked at tractor supply for a pump, one similar to this was 70$, no thanks. Took a chance on this little unit and it is perfect for what I needed it for. I mounted it in a plastic ammo can with stainless hardware, an inline fuse and a simple on/off rocker switch. Easy peasy. As far as shower pressure goes, it's pretty fast. The old pump was slow enough that a five gallon bucket was enough for two people to shower with. This pump cranks the water through it so fast that a five gallon bucket is enough for one person if you hustle. It does however have excellent pressure. So it's not a negative against the pump that it is fast, slightly inconvenient for me in that I would like it to be a little slower, but I plan on slowing it down with a pwm in the near future. I had it hooked up go a 12 amp hour battery and didn't have to swap it out over the course of a week. Maybe 10 showers between everyone. So it's easy on the battery. I dont have a use for the pressure regulator so I cant speak to how well that works. Overall it's a great little pump. I use it for a very specific use and it works great. ... show more

  • Works great
A direct replacement to my original pump. Produces more pressure but does not have a an on/off switch like my original pump.

  • Shuts off at pressure point (spray wand)
Converted an extra desktop P.S. with long cable. Drilled the wrong hole for the feed hose but it really came in handy to just put the hose back in when there's no back pressure shutoff so it just cycles what's in the bucket. The reinforced hose bent and at first I put a heavy socket on, then thought, what I need is something that won't rust and a scrap piece of 1/2" PVC came in hand and works perfectly with just a clamp to keep it in place. I use that system to pump water back into my fish tanks instead of putting the bucket on a ladder for gravity feed. Having a 5 volt and a 12 volt on that conversion allows me to slow down the pump. I used it to spray my W/C fish water on my epiphytes et al and I'll be using it for fertilizer next growth season. I've been looking many years for an inexpensive way to bypass filling a hand pump 2 gal. canister and lugging it around and this works perfectly and cheap enough to replace now that I know it can take pressuring a spray wand, The cutoff pressure is as good as going to the power supply to switch it off during changeover buckets. My question was never understanding lift height and pressure at the wand etc. together so this was a good move and the right price, and a fun couple projects that worked perfectly... so far. ... show more
