  • Even a bad relationship has some good
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
*I got this game a year after it came out* *I likely won't update this review* I'd say there are 4 pilliars to this game. 1/4- the campaign or "war stories". Not worth it, don't bother touching it. The quality of the story telling is so bad its- crazy someone got paid to make this 2/4- battle royale or "Firestorm". I mean, if you don't mind waiting 5 minutes for a match, maybe there's some enjoyment to be had. Me, I haven't played it for that reason alone. 3/4- there are these team based objective modes against enemy bots (the exact name of the mode illudes me at the moment), but like Firestorm, you likely won't find a match. And you need another player, because even on the easiest difficulty, it becomes near impossible to complete at the last objective because there is too little of you and enemies shooting from all directions. That's 3 out of 4 pillars of the game that's fundamentally worthless, with just the core multiplayer left. But the game is just 17 dollars now, and in that regard I'd say it's worth it. Now, I won't speak on the balance changes and the missing features such as vehicle customizations because, well, you haven't played the game yet so those particulars aren't of any concequence to you, so instead I'll speak soley on the gameplay, which isn't half bad. For one, I'd say the game is pretty gorgeous on the xbonex. Maybe not as striking as bf1 or the latest cod, but that's mostly because of its visual identity. Actually, I'd go so far as to say battlefront 2 which came out years ago is a far prettier game, but bfv is no slouch. Especially the fires and reflections and when players call in a massive bomb on a flag tossing bodies around with you not being close enough to die yet you still get tossed off your feet all the same. Cool stuff. Speaking of being tossed in the air, bfv has more movement options than just about any current day shooter. While most end with vaulting and sliding, in this game you can also roll after falling from quite the height to reduce your damage or purposefully catching a ledge while falling, or crawling on your back which is something you'll see a lot of mmg players doing, or seeing your character's hand stretch out as the reach for a handhold that's above their head. There's a lot of way to move as an infantry player, and that's where I think this game shines. There's also a wealth of vehicles to use if that's what you want to do, tho when it comes to actual gameplay you'll be fighting for a position to get one as depending on the mode people are quick to snatch them up. It really is a shame there is no vehicle focused game mode. Speaking on modes, there's the usual. Tdm, grand operations, front lines, breakthrough, etc. I wouldn't bother using the server browser tho. It seems like most people stick to the featured playlists, and you should do the same. All you can really do is hope that one of your favorites is in the featured lot else you'd have to search for a game. The shooting is pretty solid. The medic class seems to reign over all others with the sniper class lagging behind, but that's okay. In my opinion, the real problem isn't the shooting itself, it's that you will Need to reload constantly if you have anything that isn't an mmg. Some guns could take 6 bullets to kill, meanwhile you'd have 20 in mag. So realistically, you only get 1 or 2 kills before you need to reload. Really not a fan of this. Oh, and there's also challenges to get new guns and cosmetic options and the like, and there's this battle pass thing that you don't have to pay for. You can get a lot of new stuff simply by playing the game, and it you simply play they're not hard to obtain. There's the "tides of war" challenges which, if you click on, will matchmake you in the mode that you need to play to get the rewards. Simple stuff. And if you miss a weapon from tides passed, you can just buy them with in game credit. I'd suggest you not do that, instead using those points to upgrade the skill tree of the guns and such you already have, but you can do it. Lots of worthless stuff and missing features in this game, but at 17 dollars, it's a great deal. ... show more

  • I love this game
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
I play this game all the time and it's a ton of fun when you're playing with friends. If you're looking to purchase for your child, it's more for older teenagers and adults. I accidentally purchased the disc for my older child thinking it was a digital code download. It was fine until I tried to use it. Our older xbox disc reader is broken. I set up a return to Amazon and after they received it, I didn't get a refund. Apparently this is industry standard and I obviously do not game enough to know that opened gaming discs are non refundable unless they are defective or broken. They were kind enough to help me, but I'll remember to read the return refund policy in the future. ... show more

  • Not bad.
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
Like Battlefield 1 this has good graphics and good story lines. However, the single player campaign is again very short so you're mostly buying another multiplayer online game which is so disappointing. The game has atrocious load times, seriously plan on waiting a lot! Also has some real control issues, they're clunky and often just don't work at all, sometimes you can't even navigate the menu at all without turning your controller off and back on. Most of the dialogue is in the native languages of the people the game centers on, which is OK but the subtitles are white on often white or other light backgrounds making it very hard to ready and easy to miss, plus a lot of the dialogue pops up in intense combat sequences so good luck trying to catch those. I'm really disappointed because both Battlefield 1 and 5 had such awesome campaign potential, but like so many games now days the campaigns are really just training modules for the multi-player side of the game. ... show more

  • It's Ok...BF1 is still better
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
There are some things about this game I like and alot of things about this game I hate. This is purely from a campaign point of view. I will start off with what I personally like about the game. The graphics and sound of the weapons are amazing! The game from a visual standpoint looks better than BF1. When it comes to the campaign, it's intriguing how they told stories about campaigns you don't hear much about. What I don't like: Though short, BF1's campaign was awesome! The campaign in BF5 feels like they weren't trying very hard. The opponent is incredibly hard even playing on the easiest setting. When I played BF1 the first time, I played on the hardest setting and got through it. When playing through BF5, most of the missions, you have to use some sort of stealth ( I know you don't have to but it makes what ever you are doing more realistic). The AI miraculously able to hit you nearly every single time without a flinch. I know the focus of BF1 and BF5 is multiplayer but the campaign was fluid in BF1. The campaign feels very broken in BF5 which made me feel like I was playing Star Wars BF2. ... show more

  • Fun Game to Play
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
Overall this was a very fun and exciting game to play. The multiplayer makes up for the game's lackluster campaign. If you are buying this game for the campaign, I would look elsewhere. If you are buying it for the multiplayer; however, I would instantly buy this up.
