I got this from the background of being a heavy VR user that tends to enjoy more active games and apps, and I wanted to try a better way of keeping the cables away from my hands and out of my pocket where it can overheat. I’ve had a chance to spend a few days with various VR experiences and I think this mostly helps with that as long as you’re not trying to really stress-test the durability! Pros: - The texture of the plastic material feels kind of nice to the touch and the color is not too out of place for being paired with the Vision from a more “pop/modern” aesthetic. - I appreciate that the smaller clip can be placed on the back of my shirt collar, effectively managing the cable down the back and keeping it out of the way of my arms. This is particularly key for me when fully immersed in more active experiences like Synth Riders. This also helps me reduce the odds of the cable getting caught on door handles, chair arms, or other objects that cables tend to get snagged on. - The ability to rotate the battery is clever for cable management and decide where the charging port faces when I’m using it while charging or tethered. - Better value than the Belkin battery holder, which is nearly twice the price. This one is good enough where it becomes hard to justify paying twice the amount for a competitor if I were mostly doing light activity. Cons: - The smaller clip designed to attach to the cable is flimsier than I expected and falls apart easily. The hole seems to be too large to hold it together. It’s unclear if this is a design flaw or an accident, but it makes securing the clip and cable difficult and made me anxious about the main clip’s durability as well. - The battery clip did not stay secure on a thin belt I had to fasten it around thicker material like a jeans’ waistband or a thicker belt. I was lucky I caught the battery! Mixed thoughts: - I hesitate to test the stress limits of the case clip with higher-intensity movements than Synth Riders, But I also don’t know how many Vision Pro experiences get more active than that. - I only found limited use for just using the lanyard, I mostly don’t use it. Having a heavy metal battery swinging freely felt less safe and secure compared to clipping it to a belt. - The material of the case does not really aid in heat dispersion besides having half the battery exposed. The battery still becomes uncomfortably hot and so does the battery holder. Overall, I think it’s still notably better than not using a battery holder at all. It checks most of the boxes and offers better value compared to the Belkin version which is nearly twice the price. It just has some minor flaws that makes me worry about if it will stay secured over time. I’m a little conflicted because if you’ve invested thousands in the Vision Pro, it may make more sense to prioritize build quality and safety.
