Buying a refurbed Bambu P1S with AMS or any refurbed Bambu product may not be the best idea
Size: P1S Combo (With AMS)
Refurbished P1S w/AMS. AMS fully fed only once, then retracted, and stopped feeding after that. No matter what I did, it refused to go past the feed motor. So, I took the AMS apart as owners should attempt to do via instructions on YT Official Bambu Channel to try to see if it was jammed. It was not. It just seemed like the feed motor wouldn’t sync with the printer, or just didn’t work after one feed/retract to warm up the hotend. So, I tried getting the unit to print using the aux roll on the back of the machine (the one you use if you don’t use the AMS). That fed, but that was it. It just purged. I spent over 6+ hrs straight of my day trying to get the printer to even print once. It kept throwing an error code about the bed or something that it couldn’t resolve on it’s own, so I reset it at least twice to the factory settings, and tried switching filaments, just in case it hated the other filaments that it came with for some reason, since it always seemed to purge, then go over to the middle of the back of the bed to what appeared to be checking the bed height to the nozzle tip before printing, and not move up to the upper right hand corner to start printing as it should. It did finally feed, but would not print at all. It never got past the bed height check. I tried everything that I knew how to do. Checked bed level, check calibration. Nothing worked. Searched for answers all over the internet, to no avail. I’ve been printing on other machines without any issues for over 10 years, but this thing just about made me pull my hair out. If this had been my first machine ever, I would’ve probably never ever tried to use another 3-D printer to learn how to print. It should simply just not be this difficult. I thought it was pretty much a plug-in play system, even for beginners, and then learn (even a new system for advanced users) as you went along and advanced, like any 3D printer should be, but since I could not get it to plug nor play, I just came to the point of giving up and decided to return it. I hate giving up. I’m still waiting to find out if I get a refund, I took my time repackaging it, and did my best not to do anything to damage it, or lose any parts. The little packet with the grease for the Z axis went missing, but I think that it actually got stuck underneath the machine when I moved it, because the machine most definitely has to sit on a solid flat surface due to massive vibration to do calibration. I think that I had it sitting a bit on that little packet, but it was still very much flat on a solid surface. So if Bambu is reading this, and a little grease packet’s missing out of the tool kit, look underneath the machine before you bill me for it. I was super stoked to get this printer, and had lots of plans for it, but after spending six hours just trying to get it to print one single test part, I just couldn’t see why I should have to spend who knows how long to get this thing to work right. Like others have said who bought refurbished machines, spend the extra $55 and buy a brand new machine. Then you know it may not have had previous issues. Live and learn. Maybe they’ll work without 6+ hours of sheer frustration. I think that this thing was a lemon from the factory. I’m a pretty intelligent person, and if I couldn’t figure this out, then there’s probably something seriously wrong with it. It may be something super minor, but why should any customer purchase something and spend almost half a day or more just trying to figure out how to make it work the first time when they expect something out of the machine as soon as it’s set up. Imagine buying a brand new car and have a breakdown the second that you get to drive it off the car lot. And then for the next six hours, you can’t make it work, and you have to try to figure it out on your own. Customers can’t be expected to go that far to try to figure things out all the time right out of the box. For those that have bought a Bambu P1S or P2S, and they worked right out of the box and then you learned the learning curve after that, congratulations. I was not so lucky. I would love to have a Bambu machine that actually works, because like I said, I was looking forward to using a Bambu P1S product, and maybe a P2S later, but now this has really made me think twice. Especially about the refurbished line of their products. 10.15.26 Edit to add: It took about a week, but a full refund was received. ... show more
