Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. Great product easy to install. I appreciated the quality and appearance of the cover. However, there were some water leakage that I will be fixing later but overall I like the cover, and how solid it looks and feels. Expensive but for the fit and look, well wort the price.

I researched covers for my Ridgeline extensively and settled on a roll-up BAK. Assembly was straight forward, directions/YT video provided me with what I needed to install it and that took me a few hours. Low profile, very secure, looks great and the only leaks I have right now are in the two back corners that don't impact anything I would have in the back. I purchased a BakFlip MX4 for my 2021 Honda Ridgeline. The first thing you will notice upon opening the box is "Made In USA" writing so I was all excited thinking this thing was going to be top quality. However, the cheap quality of the panels themselves was my first disappointment. They are not a hard, durable material with a rich black pigment which I was expecting - they are more of a flimsy styrofoam with a porous dry crackle finish. The install was straightforward although I was constantly thinking to myself, this doesn't seem like it's watertight at all. The design for the prop sticks that hold it open when folded seem to have been designed on a Friday afternoon before a holiday. All of the fasteners and seals are standard China whitebox; several pieces were broke and just plain fell off during the install; Bak Industries is sending me the replacements. There are these drain tubs that are supposed to go into drain holes which I have confirmed the Ridgeline does not have. Saying this tonneau fits a Ridgeline is a questionable statement with that as fact. I called support at Bak Industries and was told to run those into plastic bottles and empty them when they are full; I assure you that is not a joke and 100% truth. We had a good rain storm last night and sure enough the bed is full of water. It leaked it from the front seal, the side seals, and of course the drain tubes. I've ordered a tube of permatex black silicone and unfortunately will have to try and seal up this brand new tonneau cover on a new truck. I have had cheap tonneau covers in the past on other trucks and never really had a problem with leaking. This product is not something I would purchase again or recommend to family and friends. ... show more

Installation on 2019 Honda Ridgeline. Similar to other reviews I have read i ran into many problems during installation. The rail mounting brackets on the back end had to be cut out somthey would allow the mounting holes to line up ( i read on a different review that this would need to be done). You would think Bak flip would have corrected this by now. After that the rails went on smoothly. The next big issue was the cover was assembled too wide for the rails. The locking tab mechanism was mounted too far out and would not clea the rails when dropping the panels into position. Panels would not close properly without force and were almost impossible to open. I had to unscrew all six mounting mechanisms and slide them in so they would clear the rails. Six new holes had to be drilled for each mechanism. Iafter these adjustments the panels opened and clesed smoothly, similar to the cover I had on my 10' ridgeline. Lastly the last panel does not close well. The side material on the panel catches on the rails. Rails need to be moved out some. I do not have a fix for this yet but will try to put a shim im the mounting plate so the rails widen some. I only need a couple mm so i think this will work. As far as overall fit it is much worse than my old back flip cover on my 10'. That assembled and fit like a dream. I question if the seal will work and keep water out. Oh, lastly the water drain tubes at the front do not fit into the drain holes in the bed. Havn't figured out what top do with this yet. After all these modifications I have a workable cover and will probably be happy wih it but if i didnt have the proper tools and work bench i would be very unhappy with an unusable cover. The BakFlip truck bed cover is a solid choice for my Honda Ridgeline. Its sturdy construction holds up well against everyday use and weather, while the folding design provides convenient access to the truck bed when needed. The cover looks great, adding both style and function. However, installation requires careful alignment, and while it does a good job keeping out rain, some minor leaks may occur in heavy downpours. Installed in just a few hours. Good directions. Took my time and added a few additional sealing tape strips. Pretty much water tight for rain. Just a little leakage at the jet carwash. I like that the cover is almost flat and that it is secure.
