Cover is well built and very easy to install in a 2016 Tacoma. Fits perfectly and looks very finished in use. Of course, it is not 100% waterproof, but should do the job very well unless you have something extremely sensitive to water on the floor of the truck bed, i.e. cardboard boxes that might soak up any of the small puddles that eventually get into the truck bed. A bed mat and/or plastic containers should mitigate most of the risk. I am disappointed in the security of the latch design. Of course, no bed cover can resist a determined thief with a prybar or other tools. But a crook with a little initiative could easily design a way to reach in and unlatch the wire pull openers with very little effort. There are workarounds on the internet to make the cover and latches more secure, but due to the lightweight materials, and compact design for folding, those options are somewhat limited. Other fixes are more secure, but interfere with the convenience of using the cover. None of these concerns are a dealbreaker. I am very happy with the cover and I'm sure I'll get many years of use from it. ... show more

Took a few hours. You definitely need some of your own tools. Once I got everything on it wouldn't click into place that I had to flip the cover back up and tighten up the rails. Definitely make sure those are tight and fully secure before proceeding to the next step. All in all I love the way it looks. Snaps easily into place and easy to fold up as well. Not sure if it's water resistant yet. Just put it on today. There's some Cracks by where the tailgate meets it. So I'm sure it's 99% waterproof. Definitely fits really well. And super sturdy. I sat on it and it doesn't even budge. The quote to get this installed at the Toyota dealership was almost $4,000. So definitely worth it for only $1,300 to do it myself. I would definitely do it again. But please make sure you have food in your stomach and lots of patience before you start this project. ... show more

I gave this product 5 stars notwithstanding the effort to install it, which is a one-time event. In summary, the cover is durable, highly functional, secure, and looks great on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma. There are a lot of options in truck bed covers. I chose this one because I wanted one that would withstand over time the effects of wind and weather elements when traveling Texas freeways. It is at the high end of the price range for truck bed covers; as it is in terms of quality of product. Back to the installation. Again, I own a Toyota Tacoma. Little did I know that I would have to remove and later re-install the original bed rails in order to install the rails that support the BakFlip cover. Not really that big of a deal; just added about 45 minutes to an hour to the installation process, which included having to go to Home Depot to pick up the right wrench. Fortunately, BakFlip has installation videos for different truck models. Be sure to check out the installation video for your truck model -- they do vary. Other than the installation process, I am highly pleased with this product. If you can afford the price, I would highly recommend it. I've learned over the years that you get what you what you pay for. Yes, at the upper echelon of prices for pick-up truck bed covers, but tops in quality. ... show more

Got this for my daughter's Tacoma as I love the ability to prop it up and utilize the full length of the bed without having to take it off. Shipped it to my daughter as a birthday gift and she had no trouble installing it after watching the video. Great product, well designed, excellent quality and build. Could have gotten a cheaper one but the design and sturdy build are worth it. I have a soft tonneau on my truck that I often have to take off to get to use the full bed, so I'm thinking to get one of these for myself now! ... show more

The cover for the most part is well built and easy to install. It is easy to access the box and the security it provides is good. The cover seals does leak a bit but this is along the rough plastic edges of the box. The areas that need improvement are the prop rod and the finish of the rails. The prop rod plastic catch for storage barely support the weight and they constantly falling off. A metal clip or locking clip would be a huge improvement. The other issue is the unfinished cut ends of the extruded aluminum rails. Is it really too much to touch up the ends with a little paint!!! The other area that could use some improvement is the locking wire. It is very easy to slip a coat hanger under the cover and pull the release wire. Even a simple shield blocking the wire on the back side would improve security. Ultimately I am happy with the cover and it does the job I want. I would and will recommend it. ... show more
