Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. Product seems quality and sturdy. No issues with the install. People complain about the instructions, but they were fine for anyone with some sense of building. People complain about leaking but you can clearly see areas of opportunity when it comes to leaks. I used a little clear caulk in the corners. Yes it gets a few drips in the bed, but it’s 98.9% dry. Recommend getting a 3/4 drill bit to drill the drain tubes in the rubber grommets. Overall, like the fit and quality. Looks great. Replaces my other big bulky tonneau cover. I bought this for my husband's 2016 Toyota Tundra Crew Max. He was able to install it himself, but it did take a couple of hours since he doesn't have experience with this. He did adjust it a couple of times to ensure it was weather proof. His track system and bed liner seemed to be the biggest issue with it taking time. Since it has been installed, he had loved it! It is excellent quality and does not leak! I was anxious about spending this amount off money, but I'm so glad I did! My husband said that it is heavy duty, but the weight is manageable. I put the details in the headline because there were a few things I did not know until I got the kit. First of all, the rail kit worked great (don't worry about doing anything with the rail against the cab - I took it off at first not understanding that). I can still use my rails and adjustable connections just fine. I did the whole install myself and took my time and still completed it in less than 1 hour. Fit and finish of the product has been exceptional and the support that I received on the one issue I had was fast and easy. There are a few things to think about with the spray in bedliner. 1. I had to decide whether or not to use the weather stripping on top of the bedliner. I knew it would not stick well because the surface is uneven and meant to not have thing stick to it. I chose not to use the weather stripping, and I have not had any water issues as a result (take your time on the installation, let things fall into place carefully, and examine them before you tighten things down). Issue 2: drain holes. I watched a youtube video to determine how to remedy the fact that the spray in bedliner covered my drain plugs. However, with a box cutter, I was able to do the job. A quality cover with that does everything that the product description says it will. It was easy to install with minimal tools. The modification kit for the factory Tundra deck rail system worked flawlessly and allows for its use with the MX4. I really like that you can open the truck tailgate with the MX4 down. I have done extensive testing with a water hose, and mine does not leak. That being said, you have to install it correctly and there has to be a flat surface for the bed rails to get a good seal. The aluminum covers with the latches will allow for modest protection of items in the truck bed. Negatives: - The cover came without hardware. While Bakflip customer service FedEx it the next day, it was still another 6 days before I received the hardware. VERY AGGRIVATING. - There was a 3 inch scratch/gouge mark on the cover when it arrived. I did not return it because this is on a pickup truck and inevitably will get dinged up in the future. ... show more

2021 Tundra SR5 short bed. This was a VERY easy install. Once the side rails went up it was smooth sailing. I have a drop in bed liner and didn’t have to do any trimming. That may not be the case for every drop in bed liner so be aware of that. The instructions were straight forward and there are plenty of videos to watch for visual aid. I also have a bed extender and it fits perfectly with the tonneau cover. I am very satisfied with the design and how it all came together, start to finish. ... show more

Had a similar product on my old Tundra and went with the BACFlip MX4 for my new one. I put it on myself and while it took longer than all the youtube videos said it should it was reasonably easy to install. And no, it is not waterproof nor did I expect it to be. But it is reasonably water resistant, much better than the one on my old Tundra. Also easy to open and close. All in all I am very happy with the product. ... show more

Got the product on time, but box looked opened and ret -taped. The product looked like it was returned before and just sent back out before checking the product. Looked like old packaging, and product was damaged with 2 dents in it. Looks like I won’t see my refund for up to 30 days.

Gives me a peace of mind with my valuables being locked up. It doesn’t seem to be as waterproof as I was hoping but I haven’t been in rain yet so I don’t know for sure!
