Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. Initial review is further down if interested. Had to bring up the rating just for customer service. Responsive, accidentally sent wrong parts through warranty but it was quickly corrected by seller and warranty. After more research on the install, I see my install error by not completely inserting the middle bracket. All panels successfully click into place. Still a little bummed there isn't a click at each panel( only missing second panel click, from tailgate), but it still looks good on the truck. After receiving the cover with a broken corner piece, the manufacturer was quick to send a replacement through the warranty. I was on the fence about returning due to the latches underneath, but the customer is responsible for the shipping costs, so be sure to do your research. I thought I had a Bakflip on my older truck but it was a Gator Bed cover. The Gator bed covers have latches at each section. On the bakflip there are only latches on the first and last sections. I found that these latches are adjustable in the instructions but still... there is no satisfying snap on each roll down of the cover. It also means there is a security vulnerability with the second section as you could just pry it up with a screwdriver. The tension screws underneath also don't pull the cover down as snug as the gator bed cover. Water will get in if left out in the rain or snow, unless you use some sort of filler. Overall, I wish I got the gator cover but thankful for the customer service so I 'll give it 3 stars. ... show more

The description of this product was very accurate, it is very easy to assemble and the fit is perfect. My husband did it with no tools in about an 30 minutes. It is very durable and so far no fading.

I love this cover for my truck. I debated on what to get and this one is perfect. It was fairly easy to install myself and I am what I would call moderately handy. I installed it just before a beach trip and it did exactly what I needed it to do. I love how it has more than the standard 3 flips and I love how it locks itself into place. If I had one suggestion it would be to have some sort of funnel type end for the drain pipes to go into the drain holes in the bed of the truck. Without that, the water still drains into the bed. Although it is a minimal amount, the goal is to keep water out of the bed. I will have to figure out something to make this work the way I want, but otherwise, loving this bed cover so far. ... show more

As a current owner of this product but just several years old I was quite disappointed when I received a new one purchased for my 2022 model year truck. There was not many redeeming qualities I can say about it. All of the metal framing that is on the underside of the cover was mis-fit. Every piece of metal should be adjoined for strength. That’s the point of it being there. But mine had 1/4” gaps everywhere the metal adjoined. Holes also had been drilled in wrong places for the mounting hardware. Next a full set of latches were simply not there. They had not been drilled for install even. Just overlooked entirely. I don’t know how this even happens. This is not just a nitpicky minor oversight. I can’t believe this is an $1100 product. What I received resembles something I’d expect to pay about $300.00 for. It was inferior materials and simply careless construction quality. I’d rate it 0 of 5 stars. I should mention, I returned the first one and tried a second one. It had different issues than the first cover but still had a long list of different issues. So I think it’s safe to say I didn’t just get a one-off bad unit. Never will do business with this vendor again. I ended up going with a Pace Edwards retractable canister type unit. The Bedlocker. It’s more money. A lot more. But it’s construction is top notch. I was driven to this product since I couldn’t get a decent tri-fold. Meanwhile my 7 year old tri-fold cover is still as nice as the day I bought it. They don’t make them like that anymore! ... show more

It’s nice looking but I feel it’s a little over priced. I’m not very happy with the fit. After we received it we read in the papers that with certain years HD Silverado and similar trucks that in order for it to fit properly behind the cab shims have to be placed( all parts needed came in package). It made the installation more difficult than it should’ve been. We have another brand on our other Silverado and I love it. It was very easy to install and It has held up very well, very pleased with it. We thought the revolver 4 would be pretty straight forward like our other one and wanted to try it. Also liked the idea of the locking mechanism the 4 has to offer. The ends of the rails at the tailgate were bent, Had to straighten them in order to fit properly (The box was damaged during shipping). The rail ends behind the cab had large gaps we filled in with pieces of foam to seal them. It’s not as stiff as the other brand either but it’s supposed to be more durable. We will see. Hopefully it’ll last for several years. ... show more

Several years back we got a different brand of cover. Then we decided to get the same brand for our dually. Well, it blew off. Apparently it only connects in the front and in the back, no intermediate connections. I asked around and was suggested BakFlip. We put that on and wow. So, when we got a new truck this year the first thing ordered was a BakFlip Mx4. Now, it wasn't the easiest thing to put on but maybe we were being very exact. The rails in the standard bed have 3 places on each side that are clamped to the truck bed. They are not going anywhere. In our case, when the install was done we had one place that had about a quarter inch rise in it. We broke it back down (easy to do that) and found out that the rail was not pushed down when we tightened the clamp. So we loosened the clamp, pushed the rail down and locked it back in. It is now perfectly installed. The one thing I like is that is low profile. You actually have to be above it to really notice there is a tonneau on the truck. And it is sturdy, it'll hold up to 400 lbs of distributed weight on the cover. Doubt I'll ever try that but it is good to know. I'm ready to take a trip in the truck now. ... show more
