Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. The BAKFlip MX4 was easy to install on my Chevy Silverado with an 8" bed, which has a vinyl bed liner. It's been in the rain and i didn't see any leakage at all. I've made a couple of furniture moves that required the cover to be rolled out of the way, some with the front panel flat, and one that needed the full bed, with the front panel raised against the cabin window. The snap latches for the flat position and the struts for the raised position both worked great. My only complaint, and the reason for four stars instead of five, may be something that can't be avoided because of differences in truck beds. When closing the cover, the side catches don't always lock on both sides at first. I have to shift the cover a bit toward the non-locked side a bit to get both sides to lock. But it's easy to do that, so that's fairly minor. Also, not really an issue to me but something to be aware of - my remote tailgate release does release the tailgate, but with the cover down there is just enough friction with the tailgate that it does not automatically lower. I have the manual gate with power release - my guess is the power up/down gate would probably still lower. ... show more

Our package came with reversed rails. No idea until you’re installing the rails… after drilling. So we started following the directions, which aren’t great but if you’re clever enough you’ll figure them out. Installed the snaps and drilled the holes (larger than the instructions called for otherwise the bolts didn’t fit), installed the bolts. Went to attach the rail and nothing lined up. After looking at it a bit we realized they were reversed and we grabbed the other rail. It aligned, but the drain was in the rear and the stabilizer supports were reversed. We removed and reinstalled the drain to the correct side, and removed, recalculated and measured the new location for the stabilizer supports, then installed them. Finished installing everything else. This took over an hour more than it should and required us to disassemble, reengineer, and reassemble the rail systems. This is not what a consumer should have to do on a $1200 cover. I do NOT recommend this cover. FYI: this was installed in a 2025 Sierra 1500 Denali ultimate which has a short bed, carbonpro liner, and multi-pro gate. This was said to fit this exact model. ... show more

Found this very easy to install, shipped in excellent packaging and arrived damage free. I can see how this will not be very water tight. Also the drain tubes provided will not reach bed drain holes that are to small anyway to route through. All and all no real surprises. Looks like it will be a good cover. Will see how it is in a few months during winter. ... show more
