Cover is well built and very easy to install in a 2016 Tacoma. Fits perfectly and looks very finished in use. Of course, it is not 100% waterproof, but should do the job very well unless you have something extremely sensitive to water on the floor of the truck bed, i.e. cardboard boxes that might soak up any of the small puddles that eventually get into the truck bed. A bed mat and/or plastic containers should mitigate most of the risk. I am disappointed in the security of the latch design. Of course, no bed cover can resist a determined thief with a prybar or other tools. But a crook with a little initiative could easily design a way to reach in and unlatch the wire pull openers with very little effort. There are workarounds on the internet to make the cover and latches more secure, but due to the lightweight materials, and compact design for folding, those options are somewhat limited. Other fixes are more secure, but interfere with the convenience of using the cover. None of these concerns are a dealbreaker. I am very happy with the cover and I'm sure I'll get many years of use from it. ... show more

I gave this product 5 stars notwithstanding the effort to install it, which is a one-time event. In summary, the cover is durable, highly functional, secure, and looks great on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma. There are a lot of options in truck bed covers. I chose this one because I wanted one that would withstand over time the effects of wind and weather elements when traveling Texas freeways. It is at the high end of the price range for truck bed covers; as it is in terms of quality of product. Back to the installation. Again, I own a Toyota Tacoma. Little did I know that I would have to remove and later re-install the original bed rails in order to install the rails that support the BakFlip cover. Not really that big of a deal; just added about 45 minutes to an hour to the installation process, which included having to go to Home Depot to pick up the right wrench. Fortunately, BakFlip has installation videos for different truck models. Be sure to check out the installation video for your truck model -- they do vary. Other than the installation process, I am highly pleased with this product. If you can afford the price, I would highly recommend it. Great bed cover for my 2022 Toyota Tacoma. Pretty easy install and great functionality. Just make sure when you install it you look at the correct installation. This is the "3rd" Gen Bakflip MX4 and the install is different than the previous generation.

Style: BAKFlip F1 Size: 6' 2" Bed
Started with apprehension: will it fit right, will it look ok, will it last? I’ve had for less than a year now. First, it has a superb fit. Second, it does look really nice. Third, TBD, as I live in a desert and anything with plastic and rubber lasts for about 2-4 years before the stuff starts to crumble. However, I will write that it was fairly simple to install. It took a little time to understand the instructions. The basic set of instructions were for a different bed configuration: without the rails for the adjustable tie-downs. There was a stand-alone sheet of paper with the differences in the instructions. What I did figure out is that there are a couple YouTube videos that are great at detailing the installation process, specifically for this truck. Oh, and don’t forget that you have to buy a #30 (I think that’s the size, but reference the videos, my memory is a bit questionable) torx drive to remove parts before the install. The most difficult part was sliding the aluminum brackets onto the OEM rail. They were difficult to slide on, and difficult to adjust in small increments when trying to align them with the OEM bolt holes. This is a good thing since that means the tolerances were tight and they won’t suffer from overly loose fitting syndrome. The only thing I didn’t do was the drain tubes. It required drilling out the OEM drains in the bed to a larger diameter, and I didn’t want to do that. Again, I live in a desert so rain isn’t a big concern. As for the product itself, I love it so far. Opens and closes easily. The props to hold it upright are easy to operate and work well. I have driven up to 60 mph with it propped up and it seems to have handled it without issues. Keep in mind that when it’s propped up, it sticks out at the top corners of the roof about a square foot directly into the wind like an air brake. That’s a square foot of wind force trying to push it down. It locks back into place covering the bed easily. The overall product seems well designed and solidly manufactured. It was recommended to me, and I would definitely recommend to another. ... show more
