My rating reflects the view that this is a very attractive piece that is also very functional. It is perfect for our garden and as we placed it on a section of our backyard patio that has a roof overhead it should last a very long time given it is better protected from the elements. That being said, my only negative is identical to what many other posters have said: this was more difficult to assemble than it should have been. A couple of slightly warped boards, a few screw holes that didn't quite line up, ink stamps identifying certain parts that were illegible. I really like this potting bench! It took about 2.5-3 hours to put together but was pretty straightforward if you pay attention and are organized. I had several pieces left over (I made sure I did it right) and the instructions came with a correction which made the assembly slightly more confusing. I'm really giving it 4 stars since some of the holes weren't drilled or not predrilled precisely which made assembly more complicated. Once it was together, it's pretty sturdy and I really like that you can adjust the feet height to level it. I recommend this. ... show more

This is a beautiful piece…the wood is solid. I used a clear stain product to help preserve it. Had a little trouble with the type of screws and bolts that required drill bits…figured out a way to do it before realizing the extension piece was there…not experienced with drills, but had a tool that made it possible to put it together. Nice product, very sturdy. I am using this in my backyard to store gardening supplies, and actually potting!. I do have to say that even tho I have experience putting things together like this, it still took more time than I expected due to the fact that the instructions were not as clear as other self assembly products, so plan on a few hours. There was one slightly warped piece but when I drilled it in place, it straightened itself out without cracking. Once completed it proved to be a very solid and sturdy bench. The wood is GORGEOUS. Assembly- not so much. Some of the wood has dents or gouges out of it. A couple of major pieces (front board) are warped so did not go together flush. Most holes are requiring drilling. It's been quite a feat to get together. When we realized the one front board was so badly warped that there was a gap- we considered returning- but were so far into the process Kay continued on. It's not been easy. The item was difficult to assemble with some of the pieces not fitting correctly. You have to modify or bend the structure to get the screws in the predrilled holes. Many times the wood would split when screwing together causing other issues. The assembled unit was wobbly and not very sturdy. Now, after 9 months outside (under a pavilion) the cross braces supporting the table top have come off (they were factory glued and stapled on).
