The product had some damaged pieces when it arrived. This is likely to happen since they put it on a crappy pallet and the shipping company is not careful enough with the forklift. That being said, there is a number to call on the box. After you take inventory and check all the pieces, just call the number and tell them what you need. Customer service was hassle free and they sent out the replacement parts quickly. It was challenging to set this up with 2 people, but the only challenging part is getting the main frame, with all 4 posts, up. The finished product is attractive and sturdy. Best addition to our backyard. Very sturdy and looks amazing. Love the added power box which is great for phone chargers. Only minor issue is the top cover. The straps are made out of a very slippery material that doesn't hold very well and will eventually start to fray given the weather. This pergola is amazing and so beautiful in person. The instructions are great and if you keep the parts organized it makes assembly much easier. This pergola has changed the entire look of my home and even though I've only had it up a week, I have gotten tons of compliments from the neighbors, the mailman, and even the UPS driver! It is very well built and sturdy. The only issue was one small section that wasn't painted correctly but I didn't stress about it as it will be covered with flowering vines. When you receive the four boxes, unpack all 4 and lay out the parts by type. Each part is in a plastic sleeve and is associated with a letter. Keep the sleeve on until you are ready to assemble it. The instructions and fasteners are all in “box 4” so be sure to unpack everything before starting. I also recommend using the “BILT” app which gives you very easy to use 3D instructions. You can manipulate the drawing like using CAD software and validate each part and fastener. This can be done on a phone or tablet, but tablet is easier. Assembly is straight forward and I did most of it myself. When putting the frame up, I would suggest having 3 people to help support it. That portion only takes 20 - 30 minutes. There is also a lot of repeat assembly so I would recommend putting all the fasteners in bins so you can quickly grab and assemble. Have a good drill with torque settings, this will help you snug parts together before tightening. Because this product is metal, all the holes will line up very well and you won’t waste a lot of time getting things to fit. I only had one hole not tapped correctly, so if you have an M6 tap laying around, that can also help. All bolts are M6 x 3 different lengths. They will provide 2 wrenches and 2 bits to use with your drill. Total assembly was about 12 hours total of labor, but could be done in 6 if you have 2 people from the start ... show more

This pergola was a challenge for one person to assemble. My wife did help did come to my rescue a few times, especially with lifting and stabilizing the long sides to the posts. Overall I am very pleased with how it looks. It took me roughly 12 hours (in the blazing hot sun) to fully assemble and anchor to our patio. There were only one or two instances where the bolts did not fully thread into their holes but I think I can live with that. I was relieved to see all the bolts take the same hex head size so using a cordless drill made putting the bolts in the beams a snap. The most time consuming aspect was putting together each and every bolt, rubber washer, and steel washers over 200 times. One life saving tool that maybe overlooked is a magnet pick up tool. Often these little bolts can fall inside the beams which require the use of magnet to retrieve them. All in all I love our new pergola and we've already a got a small pool underneath it which the family is enjoying and we've already tethered vines from our nearby garden to enhance the look. If you are semi handy like me you shouldn't have any problems but don't skimp out on getting help where needed. ... show more

This is a very high quality product. There was enough hardware (screws, washers, etc) and the directions were clear. I would recommend using the Bilt app that was in the directions ... I loaded it on my Fire tablet and it made the assembly much easier. Best thing of all ... everything fit perfectly. It's heavy ... but my wife and I assembled this pergola over a weekend ... we're in our mid-70s. ... show more

We are so extremely pleased with this purchase! The app and directions are very easy to follow and assembly was a breeze for my husband and a friend of his. I was a little nervous to go with the steel versus a wooden pergola, but now I am so glad I went this route. I wanted something sturdy, yet maintenance-free since this is at our vacation home. We just want to relax when we are there and we know we will never have to paint or stain this pergola. It is made of heavy-duty galvanized steel and the construction is solid. It is very well made and I am most likely going to order another for our home residence. What an amazing product! We can't say enough good things, we are so extremely pleased with our purchase! Once I have it all styled with furniture I will share pictures:) Update: here is our pergola built and we added a bar underneath! It is perfect!
