Perfect gate! Super easy to install. A complete snug fit. And it latches at the top and bottom. We got this gate to keep the dogs out but to let the cat come and go as she pleases. I like that the cat door just lifts up and doesn’t swing. You can also adjust the cat door to be lower if you wanted to. We have a banister so we used a banister kit on one of the railings. We bought them here on Amazon too. I didn’t take a picture, but it comes with different ways to attach it to your wall based on your needs. If you want it super secure. You can screw it into the wall! Or it comes with doubled sided round tape to make sure it won’t move. We decided to try it as is against the wall and if it budges over time we may add the sticky pads but it’s incredibly sturdy already so I doubt we will need it. Make sure to measure before buying though. Good for the price as well. ... show more

    • Heavy, difficult to get the tension fixed but still worth it
This is a great baby gate, in our case a puppy gate. The extra wide extension pieces go together easily and in theory the four "screw tight" tension screws (the part that butts up to the wall) should make it all simple. Not so much. First, the whole thing is pretty heavy for one small woman to manage by herself and the extension pieces fall off easily which complicates installation. Plain wood screws and wall mount brackets for the 4 tension screws are provided but you would have to know EXACTLY where you were going to want those 4 tension screws to go or you'll be drilling more holes to get the gate level both vertically and horizontally. And you MUST get the 4 tension screw grabbers right or the gate latch won't work properly and the whole thing would be worthless. I did get this gate up, barely. The problem for me is on one side is a 45 degree turn in my kitchen cabinets and one side of the gate fits there but getting the tension screws really tight poses a problem since a wrench or vice grip won't work around the 45 angle. I'm not strong enough to tighten the tension screws by hand enough to make them absolutely solid and stable. If I were installing this on two parallel and straight walls it might be easier. And did I say it's really heavy and the extensions fall off easily? Yeah. Until this thing is pretty much completely installed and leveled there is the danger that one of the extensions will fall and then it's time to start over again. It would be much easier to have a second person handy to help and preferably one with strong hands to tighten those tension screws up against the wall very tightly. Once it's up, it's a godsend! Even the most determined puppy can't chew through although a big puppy might be able to knock it over until it is really stable and solid. The gate does prop open at a 45-degree angle when you want, and it closes easily when you are just stepping through and don't want that puppy (or baby) to follow. I think the white finish is attractive and blends well with my white kitchen cabinets. Until I can get a family friend or my adult son over here to tighten everything properly I'm being very careful because it "can" slip at one corner and come crashing down - on my feet and on the puppy, too. I still give this 4 stars and it would be 5 stars if it were just a little more user friendly in the installation. Oh, and the wide walk-through space makes it very easy even carrying an armload of laundry or groceries or a child. It does open with one hand. I'm pleased and would buy it again. If you do pick this gate, just have a friend there to help on one side with you on the other because a 55" span is too wide for one person to manage all at once. Good luck! ... show more

I bought this gate 6 months ago. It broke this morning. The whole door snapped off. It’s not over used or treated roughly. My 19 yr old daughter simply opened it by lifting up and opening and the door popped off. I haven’t liked this gate from the get go but decided it “will do” I should have returned it. 1st off it doesn’t open easily. You have to lift up on it quite a bit to get it to open. 2nd it’s LOUD. The locking button on the door is so loud it will wake people up when it closes. My gate before this one was much easier and quiet. 3rd, this one has a tall bottom bar. So it isn’t easily used on stairs. The stair that you place it on can’t be stepped on because the bottom bar is tall on that step and doesn’t leave any space to step on. This also is difficult if your letting a dog up the steps they have to jump multiple steps to get past that step with the bar. Most importantly this product should NOT last 6 months. I should be able to use this for years & yet here I am with a broken gate. UPDATE. Shortly after my review was posted I was contacted by the seller & they sent me a new gate free of charge. Because of this I will change my star review to 3 stars. I am hoping this new one lasts longer than 6 months. ... show more

I had a gate from another company for several years and this gate is far superior. The steel framework is sturdy and the paint is finished very attractively. Assembly is fairly straightforward and there are options for mounting. Once in place it looks and operates well. The gate includes a child proof mechanism that is easy for adults. It can be pulled to an open position that locks into place. If moved from this position it is spring loaded and closes automatically. One big negative comment. There are several warning labels that are nearly impossible to completely remove and fall apart. I had to use a heat gun and an adhesive cleaner. ... show more

We have only had this for one night, but already love it! We have a large dog we took in because her elderly owner had to move in with her daughter and could not take her 12 year old dog.
