  • great 68-degree widefield
greatest zoom eyepiece have ever brought. The weight of this eyepiece is not bad compared to some two inch eyepieces. I also like the number of accessories for the price that is a little high until you look through it. Zooming from 24mm to 8mm is where this product separates because going to a higher power on most lessens your eye relief but not this one. Turning magnification is smooth and you can feel when you get to the next power. Easey to use than having multiple eyepieces. ... show more

  • MarkIV Zoom highly recommended.
I purchased the Mark IV Zoom and the 17.5 Morpheus at the same time along with an Orion Barlow 2x. I was very pleased with all 3, I bring up the others to compare the differences in types of eyepieces. The “picture” clarity of the 17.5 fixed lens is very high, the Zoom’s is as well but not quite as crisp as the Morpheus. It seems the the eye relief of the zoom is a bit tougher than the fixed lens which is to be expected. Overall I really enjoyed the Zoom and think it’s a great tool to have in the cart for a late night under the stars. The ability to pair it with a Barlow also makes it much easier to “scan” for star systems. I’ve added a modest photo of Jupiter and a couple of its moons that I took with an iPhone 11 and the MarkIV Zoom. Cheers. ... show more

  • It is ok.
Really nice especially for the price but a much smaller difference on the telescope than we expected.

  • Excellent product, excellent retailer
I've been doing astronomy for about 10 years, and the Baader 8 to 24 mm zoom lens is my go-to lens. Agena Astro is a premier supplier of astronomical gear.

  • Disappointed
I received this as a present or I would have returned it. 1st-- no barlow as advertised. 2d the 1st one had hair-like aberrations (sent that one back.) 3d very difficult to focus and maintain a focus with Skywatcher Skymax 127 and AZ mount. 4th it wouldn't work without an extender. (I put 2-- one between the scope and right angle and one between the right angle and this lens. Like my cheap 15mm wide angle and the 25mm that came with my telescope. Fingers crossed my skills improve because this zoom was not cheap. Also-- latex on it (like most of them.) I had to put a toddler girl sock with a hole in the toe on it, which works fine-- it is easy to click to the different focal lengths. And easy to insert into my dielectric right angle-- so there is that. And I like the case [and the box (perfect size for 7 color filters in their cases.)] Still, disappointed. ... show more

  • No more juggling
I've had this for a few months now and so glad I got away from fixed eyepieces. Sure, you lose out on fov but you more than make up for it with how much more you can focus on the sky rather than fiddling around with eyepieces. Pair this with a 32mm eyepiece and you've got a massive range of magnifications covered. This zoom barlows well, too. You most likely won't need a barlow unless you're lucky enough to have consistently good viewing conditions. I did compare this to other zooms. It was an easy decision sticking with the Baader. ... show more

  • Good optical quality and build - great value
While there are optically-superior modern eyepieces, such that you could buy several dedicated high-end optics at several hundred dollars each, this is reasonably priced, and a nice compromise. Maybe next year, I'll purchase a 6 mm mercedes equivalent.
