Description

The new Wedge for NexStar Evolution and SE 6/8 mounts turns our venerable single fork arm telescopes into portable astroimaging powerhouses. Our popular NexStar SE and our new NexStar Evolution telescopes are great for astrophotography, however an EQ wedge is necessary to take longer exposure images, or to advance further and use an autoguider. Alt-Az tracking keeps objects centered, but a long enough exposure will reveal they rotate in the field of view. Adding a wedge allows the mount to track equatorially, thereby eliminating field rotation. This Wedge was reengineered from the ground-up, specifically tailored to the NexStar Evolution and SE’s size and styling. Weight is minimal to keep the whole setup light and portable, yet the platform is sturdy to support taking long exposure astrophotos. Unlock the full imaging potential from your NexStar Evolution or SE 6/8 mount with this new Wedge!

  • Turns your Alt-Az Celestron Mount into an EQ mount. Built like a tank!
Style: Wedge
This looks and feels like a solid piece of engineering. Strong and precise build. I used it to convert my 8 inch Celestron SCT from Alt-Az to EQ. Does the job perfectly. Instructions for mounting are easy to follow. This was a great purchase.

  • Excellent wedge for nexstar 6se/8se or Evolution series telescopes
Style: Wedge
This is an excellent, heavily built wedge! I purchased it for my Celestron nexstar 6se and was very impressed with its solid construction and nice design. I have a wedge for my 12" Meade lx200 classic that is just a collection of metal slabs bolted together which Meade thought was high design in its day, this one however actually has some nice touches to it when contrasted with my old lx wedge. The anodized parts add a nice touch of color and the hooks for hanging the hand controller are thoughtful but maybe placed a little far back on the wedge. There are cutouts to reduce weight but they add a nice touch of design. The azimuth adjustment controls are awesome for when you need to dial in a fine adjustment while polar aligning. I'm excited to start using this and look forward to many nights of astrophotography using the excellent 6se and it's amazing optics. ... show more

  • Great tracking
Style: Wedge
They don’t provide a lot of instruction on alignment, but there are lots of resources online that do. Once properly aligned, you’ll track the sky naturally without field rotation. Great alternative to replacing the mount if you want to do long exposure astrophotography!

  • 9.25 evolution single fork arm flexes work around with multiple star alignment
Style: Wedge
Solid built but single fork is lacking strength I have the 9.25 evolution the wedge is solid and I was very impressed buy the build which explains the cost, but I have to set 10 alignment points to get it close to working the issue is the single fork arm, it is designed to operate upright, but the wedge has it hanging under to fork standing on top and in any other conceivable position other then vertical and it appears to cause flex in the arm. So to find a deep sky object you have to align to a bright object near by to compensate for the flex. Going to try it one more time before I return it and look at a polar mount. Got another clear night and found that you need to pick alignment stars about 90 degrees apart and that if you find a bright star near the deep sky object you can align on it then move to the deep sky object. I took photographs to show the stresses on the single arm. the photos are taken with a cannon t6i with no processing. RC car batteries are for the dew shield heater. The first Orian nebula is without wedge second is with the wedge the 3 photograph is the sculptor galaxy and is a multi minute exposure. After months of fighting with it, I broke down and bought a CGX Mount. When I spoke to celestron support they advised that the 9.25 is to heavy and will cause prior performance, probably why it is not mentioned in the product description. ... show more

  • Great piece of aluminum alloy!
Style: Wedge
I save a few $ by buying an open box item. Amazing improvement over no-wedge days for sure. I think this is a nice step forward in my astro imaging adventure before getting a dedicated EQ mount eventually (I can't expect too much from a single fork Evolution mount in long term). It makes 8-15" unguided exposures almost streak free. 30" not so much. Need to try with more ref points than one next time I am out :) Also its extra added weight absorbs vibrations nicely and makes whole setup more stable. Pro tip: you will need an illuminated cross hair eyepiece for your polar alignments! ... show more

Convierte tu monte azimutal s uno ecuatorial. Cuando funciona en algunas posiciones da brincos no siendo tan eficiente en esos puntos.

  • I am proud to say this is an outstanding value!
Style: Wedge
I thought it was just plastic, but it is ALL metal. Heavy-duty solid mount. To turn my $2000 Celestron 8SE into a REAL astrophotos rig is awesome!
