Features

  • The Celestron 2.5x Luminos Barlow increases the magnification of any 2" or 1.25" eyepiece by two and a half times.
  • High-quality 4-element optics produce a flat field for sharp images that are free of extraneous color.
  • Hard-anodized aluminum barrel is threaded to accept 2" filters.
  • A brass compression ring holds eyepieces firmly in place, and large thumbscrews are easy to turn, even with gloves on.
  • A 2" to 1.25" adapter is included. Allows the use of both 2" and 1.25" eyepieces.

Description

The Celestron 2" Luminos Barlow Lens increases the magnification of your 2" and 1.25" eyepieces by 2.5x. The premium 4-element apochromatic optics are fully multi-coated for optimum light transmission and yield high contrast, true color images. The beautiful hard-anodized aluminum housing matches the eyepieces in the Celestron Luminos line. A centralized rubber grip helps to keep your hands securely on the barrel, even when your fingers are cold or you are wearing gloves. A brass compression ring just inside the top of the Luminos 2.5x Barlow grabs your 2" eyepieces gently but firmly when you turn the oversized thumbscrew. Once the thumbscrew has been secured in place, the brass ring keeps your eyepiece in the Barlow instead of relying on the tip of the thumbscrew itself, offering a better grip and protecting the barrel from scratches. A matching 2" to 1.25" adapter is included so that you can increase the magnification of all of your eyepieces, both 1.25" and 2", in this versatile Barlow lens. The insert barrel of the Celestron Luminos 2.5x Barlow is threaded to accept 2" filters. This is a nice feature, because you can change eyepieces without removing and reattaching the filter each time.

  • Absolutely outstanding workmanship, especially for the price!
An important rule to remember: When it comes to adding anything to your optical path in astronomy, don't shop "on the cheap". You will be sorely disappointed with the results. If you can afford a Televue, do it. If not, the Celestron Luminos is the best bang you can get for your buck. 4 elements. This thing is not only gorgeous for visual observation, but it's outstanding for astrophotography. Strongly recommended. ... show more

  • Looking through the lens in
Well I’m not enjoying it so far because the moon is to big in that lens and I have yet to view Saturn or Jupiter, can’t seem to find them.

  • Perfect.
Truly what I wanted. Have an 8 inch Dobsonian and a 28mm deep view lens, great light capture but always wished I could get in closers with a 2 inch eyepiece. The 1.25 isn't as enjoyable for me.. of course I was worried about losing light and increasing distortion as those of you reading this are too I'm sure... let me put you at ease, this is amazing. Truly amazing. Turned it on onions belt and got perfect views of the nebs on the sword. Great close ups of jupiter, perfect clarity, perfect flattening across the lens with no awkward edge distortion. I was really happy with tonight's stargazing and this has definitely been the purchase I hoped it would be. If your on the fence, buy it. If your not even in the market for thos.. buy it. Just buy it. You won't be dissapointed. ... show more

  • Great entry-level Barlow
First night out, I paired this with a University Optics plossl 55mm & a Meade 5000 UWA 20mm. The results were great! This mid-range barlow has a quality 5 element design so it has nice color correction for the price. Because it is a 5 element design, it provides some field flattening effect to my 13" dobsonian, Without me having to buy a paracorr :D ... show more

  • Good build quality. Not heavy. Good optics.
I bought the celestron 2.5x barlow to do some planetary work. I looked over a number of reviews and have to disagree with them on several points. Weight - the barlow is not heavy. weight is similar to a typical eyepiece if not lighter. Build quality - quality is quite acceptable. I would call it good. Exterior - is polished, metal with a rubber friction ring for grip and handling. I prefer a dark exterior but that is just my preference. Style - fits in with the other Celestron Luminos equipment. I would rather a simpler style but this is what is available. Optically - acceptable, clear images, not distorted. The telescope, eyepiece and equipment you use with this will certainly factor in to the optical performance. I am using a high quality triplet refractor with good 2" eyepieces. There are better barlow lenses out there but at a higher price point. So in summary, At this price (i got a discount) i consider it a very good buy, and certainly acceptable for my uses. ... show more

  • Great product and great seller.
Product arrived a day in advance!!!! High quality build . I would use it tonight, but we have cloudy skies. This 2" BARLOW will help me with my telescope eye fatigue.
