Style: UHC/LPR Filter - 1.25"

Features

  • Our 1-1/4" Light Pollution Reduction (LPR) Filters are designed to selectively reduce the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light

Description

Our 1-1/4" Light Pollution Reduction (LPR) Filters are designed to selectively reduce the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light. This includes mercury vapor, and both high and low pressure sodium vapor lights and the unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emission in our atmosphere (i.e. sky glow). The new ultra high contrast (UHC) LPR filter has improved contrast over the typical broadband filters. Sky background is darker, and contrast of emission nebulae are noticeably improved. The advanced technology coatings enable the filter to achieve an outstanding transmission of over 97% across the entire bandpass, with total blockage of prominent light pollution lines. The perfect filter for viewing nebula from light polluted skies, or for boosting the contrast of nebula from dark sky sites. In addition to it's optimum spectral and optical characteristics, the UHC/LPR filter offers important features that set it apart and result in the highest quality celestial views: The multi-layer dielectric coatings are plasma assisted and Ionbeam hardened using the latest technology for durability and resistance to scratching. Improved transmission translates to maximum image brightness and contrast. Users of smaller, 4"-11" telescopes will especially appreciate the high efficiency, and larger scope users will love the rich star fields and detailed subtle nebular shadings that are left intact. The high transmission, sharp cutoffs, and more moderate 60nm passband of the UHC/LPR filter retains a more natural view, yet significantly boosts overall contrast. Imagers will appreciate the broader bandpass and inclusion of an extremely efficient H-Alpha passband (656nm).

  • gives nebulae more contrast and more shape
Style: UHC/LPR Filter - 1.25"
This UHC filter does its job at making nebulae have more contrast and more shape. This filter works with emission and planetary nebulae. It makes nebulae have about 30% more contrast. It is especially effective on the orion nebula and even bette on the M27 Dumbell nebula. The below reviewers clearly do not know how lpr filters work. It will not eliminate light pollution, just lessen the effect of it. I use this on my Orion XT10i Dobsonian (10 inch aperture). The uhc filter is more well rounded than an OIII filter. It is actually $20 cheaper on Amazon than on Celestrons own website. ... show more

  • Nice filter!
Style: UHC/LPR Filter - 1.25"
I used this one morning before dawn to see planets. Actually with remote work, there’s less pollution of all types now - so I can see the atmosphere better! Glad I bought this though! Recommended for viewing aide for your telescope.

  • Not as Advertised
Style: UHC/LPR Filter - 1.25"
Not as advertised. I live in a very polluted area, if it's true that the filter work reducing the ligth, it is not as advertised. You will gain a bit more contrast ( i was expecting more) and a green like view of everything, even nebula like orion do not gain more. For 60 dolar this filter is overrated a is not good as i was expecting ... show more

  • Excellent Filter !
Style: UHC/LPR Filter - 1.25"
Works as advertised ... Cuts down on light pollution significantly and enhances contrast. Pic below is of the Orion Nebula in a light polluted environment (LA suburb).

  • Good filter, but I think it color shifts... although not important for intensified astronomy.
Style: UHC/LPR Filter - 1.25"
Good filter for intensified astronomy (Night Vision), while it doesn't block all skyglow, it reduces it significantly and allows all the important bands through, H-Alpha, Beta and I think O3 too so you can get a good glimpse and things like the helix nebula using night vision gear. A friend has it and doesn't like it for astrophotography due to "color shift" not sure if this is true but I figured it was worth mentioning. ... show more

  • Pics for proof
Style: UHC/LPR Filter - 1.25"
As you can see , the filter works. It's irrefutable that it works . The reviews I've seen that have been negative don't mention what scope they have . Refractor or reflector ? What's the aperture ?? I have a 5" Newtonian. Astro master 130. No problem here .

  • lower clouds shinning the lights of the city at background so I put this filter in a XCEL 25mm on a 130EQ Celestron Astromaster
Style: UHC/LPR Filter - 1.25"
Incredible,,,, at naked eyes there where no stars, rainy and cloddy days all week, lower clouds shinning the lights of the city at background so I put this filter in a XCEL 25mm on a 130EQ Celestron Astromaster and it was fantastic!!!!!!! I had compared it with an 24mm eyepiece without the filter and really works!!!! The other side is that it is very reflective so you will notice something shinning inside the eyepiece so u need to be in the completely dark or put your hands around eyepiece. Nice, very nice. ... show more

  • Great product.
Style: UHC/LPR Filter - 1.25"
I live in Milpitas California and without this filter it was difficult to spot the orion nebula(pretty much blend into the background). Definitely made a difference for me. Just a heads up that what you'lll see in the telescope will be a white blob unless you use photography. The telescope that I use is an 8" Orion dobsonian telescope. Also, it does dim certain stars so don't expect to see every stars. ... show more
