  • Great vise for the price!
This vise is very basic, but I find it works great for repairing the circuit boards of digital multimeters. It's very easy to use and holds the boards securely in the jaws. One jaw is mounted on a spring that in theory will help prevent putting to much pressure on the PCB. There are thumbscrews threaded into the posts of the jaws that allow the PCB to be set and locked at an angle, but if the spring is compressed the screw will also lock it in the compressed position. I normally only lock the side opposite the spring to avoid this. All in all this vise is great for the money, my only complaint might be that it could be a little shorter to keep the board close to the surface of the bench. Build quality seems fairly good, with rubber feet to prevent it slipping around and it's large enough to hold any board I work on. ... show more

  • Works great, just as in the video.
Very good product; works exactly described in the video.

  • A very utile piece of equipment!
I bought it after reading a number of online reviews of this (and many copies/knockoffs) device. All I can really say is IT LIVES UP TO THE "HYPE"! It's easy to put together (it comes packaged in a disassembled "state") and, once assembled, is a VERY STABLE "platform" for working on circuit boards (it's main "forte") and other "things" that spring jaws can "capture" and hold. The ability to vertically ROTATE the "specimen" a full 360 degrees (depending on the "specimen's" size and how it's mounted) gives this holder an edge on many other "similar" tools. Finally, the holder can be stored on a nearby shelf or a regular desk drawer when not in use as its "footprint" is roughly 5" x 12" x 4" (W, L, H). The only real "nit": depending on the "weight distribution" of the "specimen", you may need to BRACE the front and rear edges to prevent unwanted "rotation" if you apply any "pressure" to the surface facing you (i.e., probing with meter leads, solder work ). Otherwise tightening the clamp knobs will usually provide the necessary "anti-rotation" pressure, particularly on "smallish" and "lightweight" specimens. Otherwise, I DO recommend this tool for any Electronic Hobbyist. :) ... show more

  • This is great! Consider also getting Blu Tack.
If you've been juggling your PCB in order to solder than this is what you want. It works as expected. The quality is good and it totally works. It has made soldering on PCBs a simple joy. If you need this holder I recommend one other product that will help you. These two products will revolutionize your soldering experience. Get Blu Tack. This is the stuff you might use to stick a poster to a wall. It's a bit like silly putty or clay but it releases without leaving a mess. Use this to hold your components in place while you solder. It's amazing and especially useful with this holder. ... show more

  • Good quality, price and fast shipping..!
What more could you want..? No this was a real good deal. There are a few that are identical from different sellers, but more money and longer wait time for most... This metal framed and sturdy..! Definitely helps hold the board in a position you want it to be in to repair or inspect.

  • Excellent bang for your buck
This thing is a great value. Like others have said, the blue uprights are plastic, the jaws and frame are metal. All of the threaded parts have metal inserts. This is a great low cost product designed for hobby use. It works perfect for me as a hobbyist. If you are expecting professional quality at $15, get real! If you need a higher end product, spend the $50, don't buy this and complain that it isn't up to your standards. ... show more

  • It does a good job.
I bought this as an upgrade, my old one wasn't great. This is much better. It adjusts easily and holds the board securely. The rotation function makes it easy to work on - modify - build PC boards. This is one of those "I wish I bought it long ago." items I use it to build & modify effects pedals for guitar. It works perfectly for PC boards of this size. So far I give it 2 thumbs up! ... show more

  • Bare minimum functionality - good enough if you dont plan to use it much
From a strictly functional perspective this does the job and is better than nothing. The occasional hobbyist will do fine with this. The construction is very cheap - flimsy light weight plastic, poorly fitting threaded knobs for adjustment, and no vertical adjustment. The claim that it allows 360 degree rotation is mostly false. Technically its true if you are working on a very small board. But it only has 2 inches of vertical clearance above the bottom bar, so if your board is more than 4 inches wide you wont be able to rotate 360 because your board will hit the bottom bar. A much bigger vertical clearance would have made a big difference, and an adjustment for it would have been great. No provisions whatsoever for holding a board that is not square/rectangular. You need at least two parallel straight edges to use this tool. Round/oval/oddly shaped boards wont work with this tool. Also will not work with very small boards < 1 inch across - the tool holder will cover the entire board. You need at least a 1/4 margin on each edge of the board between the board edge and the first component/trace. The margin is for the board to fit into the board holder. The rotation lock is very very weak and although there are two of them, one on each side, it wont hold the board still if you are pressing on it with your soldering iron and you can forget completely about using a screwdriver on heat sinks and other items with Phillips screws - the board will just rotate when you press into the screw. Half of the adjustment knobs are on the wrong side of the tool because the two pillars on each side are the same part, but with one of them turned around the other direction. They should have made it non-directional so that the adjustment screws could have been on the front on both sides. Plan on reaching around to the back for the adjustment screws on the right side pillar. Could just use only the left side for adjustment - but did I mention the rotation lock is weak and you need to set both of them to have a prayer of holding your board still? All in all I do not recommend this tool for anyone other than a very occasional hobbyist. Regular/advanced hobbyists and professionals should look for a better quality tool. But you get what you pay for I guess. ... show more
