So, I suffer from back and leg pain. I had been using three pillows around me to keep me elevated and to support my back. It was always uncomfortable and the pillows would shift. So I decided to invest in a wedge pillow. I came across this and saw that the reviews were good. I’m thankful I did. It is a solid pillow set and has not started to sink or diminish in strength, which I was worried about. It immediately took away the pressure in my back and legs. Remember to try to adjust it and try the different ways of positioning them if it’s uncomfortable. Once I found the correct position for my body, it felt awesome. My other concern were the few reviews that complained of the headrest pillow not expanding correctly. I did have that problem but, I decided to wet it under running water and hoped it would expand, and it did. Then I rung the water out of it and put it in the dryer. It did take awhile to dry on a low temp. I didn’t want to ruin it. After it was fully dry, it was fluffed out the way it should’ve been. The other pillows expanded just fine with some gentle molding with my hands. So, if you don’t mind working with it, it’s worth the small fuss. The first picture shows the pillow after I wet and dried it.

I slept on the Avana Comfort System for the first time last night. I think this is a wonderful product and it is helping me get through a really difficult time. This is a shaggy dog story with a point, not just me whining. I am 69 years old, an overweight retired policeman, and I have been diagnosed as needing a right hip replacement due to osteo-arthritis. When I qualify for this surgery it will be my 4th replacement - I have been through a left hip and a double-knee surgery that were very successful. I did a lot of walking earlier this year after heart surgery. (There was no rehab program because of COVID.) The pain from the right hip got worse and finally wouldn't go away to the point that walking any distance is out. Then I experienced something I wouldn't wish on anyone else. It is called "referred pain." This is where due to the way the nerves are connected in the body, you have a trauma in one place but you feel it somewhere else. In my case it is acute pain below my right knee and in the shin area. I found multiple articles in reputable journals like the NIH that indicate there are many sufferers. But here is the problem: I can't sleep normally which for me was on my side. I have to have my legs elevated a bit, and often with an ice pack, to back the pain off at all, along with prescription medication. I should have had the surgery 6 months ago but there are new rules about weight and BMI. I have lost 31 pounds since September 19. I have also discovered that I am not alone in fighting the battle to reach a much lower weight to qualify for surgery. I was using an odd combination of available pillows to prop myself up and I have another large edge for my legs, but it is too high. Several hours of being elevated that way and I was almost worse off, except I did sleep along the way. I bought the Avana System because I was about at my wit's end. Admittedly, it does seem a bit expensive but it is very well designed and very well made. The cloth covers over the memory foam are very well stitched. They are comfortable, soft and attractive. More importantly, the system is easily adjusted and has several ways it can be reconfigured. Last night I used the knee elevation with the support setup to keep myself raised up. I was way more comfortable. This was just the right height of knee elevation to keep the referred lower leg pain at bay. My head, shoulder, and chest were comfortably, yet firmly supported. The memory foam is amazing. Here is the one warning I would give. It is also plainly stated on the instructions: DO NOT CUT the package open. If you unroll it and wait a little while, the memory foam will inflate. anyway, I really like this product and I hope this helps someone else.

I bought this orthopedic bed after comparing reviews with other similar “beds.” I had a breast reduction and lift 3 weeks ago and I can now say how I would change things around and how I ended up using it to make the most of it. The support is great though I wish it was a little softer and more conforming to my back. I had to put a really soft loose pillow to take off some of the pressure on my back. I didn’t use the headrest at all, at least not for my head, it was too hard and it hurt my neck. I used it as an arm rest and it worked out beautifully. Also it kept my husband on his side of the bed (lol). The leg rest was a tad to high and hard making the back of my knees sore after using it for a couple of days. I’m still using the “arm rest” and the curved part of the set. It really has been great overall. I suggest you buy ahead of time try it different ways to see how it would work for you. Also keep a couple of super soft, light support pillows handy and you’ll be able to rest and sleep comfortably. BTW yes it does help with pain relieve. I tried to sleep without it once after the second week of my post op and I couldn’t do it. That’s why I’m now only using the curved part of the set and the “arm rest.” I sleep so well with those that I’m not sure when I’ll stop using them.

Set is just as described, no chemical smells. I think it's kind of pricey for what you get but I also think it's a better option than most items available. I did have an issue with the headrest not inflating. I contacted the manufacturer directly via email. Once they found my order with Amazon they overnighted me a replacement! Excellent customer service.
