I originally ordered 2 of these to place by my senior cats' food dishes to help them see at night. I use the lower setting and the battery lasts a long time before needing to be recharged. The motion sensor picks up the cats easily. The lights are small but give off enough light for my purposes. I also use them for travel so I'm not stumbling around in the dark in hotel rooms or having to leave on too bright bathroom lights. They are compact, lightweight and take up almost no room in my carryon. Got these because we have a dark staircase, and I didn't want to pull wire to install lights. These things are great, I use the lower light setting, as I just need them to light up the staircase as I walk up and down. I would say motion detection is approx 4-6ft, but I have them low on the staircase, so they are semi hidden by the steps. Battery life is okay, my niece switched one of them to on(low light setting), 14 hours later is was technically still on, but wasn't putting out much light. No big deal, I just tossed it back on the charger, and reinstalled. Oh, one cool thing is the magnet that holds the light to the plate. Makes its very simple to remove, recharge and reinstall. Only have had them for about a week, so I can't comment on the longevity of them. But so far I am happy with them. ... show more

Strong and soft light options. Works great. Now, indispensable for mom when she gets up in the middle of the night... No more knocking things over, making worry she might have fallen. Only minor complaint is that it had a very wide and far reaching motion sensitivity. It comes on if I pass her room in the dining room maybe 15 feet away. So, I'm forced to close her bedroom door so I won't wake her up at night, and during the day, so I don't use up its juice unnecessarily. I'm thinking of using one of these inside the shower, but I'm guessing they are not waterproof. I wonder if I can cover it with a plastic? These lights work so well on my stairs. I love that they are rechargeable. I put the lights on auto mode and recharge them once a week. This has saved me so much money since I don't have to buy batteries. The lights use a magnetic strip to attach to the wall. The lights have two levels of brightness.
