I purchased this item in December, 2022. After about 5 weeks it would not sync with the monitor. I contacted Gigi in Customer Service and she was great. She sent a new camera, but it did not sync with the original monitor.     • Superior Customer Service - Thanks to Gigi
After buying two Type S back up cameras and not being satisfied, I decided to try this Auto Vox. I am so very pleased with this camera and especially their customer service. The camera and video screen were set up in minutes and worked fine the first time. However my Volvo dashboard is at a slant with raised bumps. Then I tried to put it in front of the only other FLAT spot in front of the led screen for the radio and that was just not big enough to get enough suctions. I then called customer service and they sent me a link for an adapter on amazon. I purchased it and now it is clipped to my AC vent and has stayed there since. Gigi was wonderful and Auto Vox reimbursed me for the amazon adapter. I highly recommend this product and customer service. ***** 5 stars ... show more

Product was easy to install on a 2014 Prius. It worked well for a year and then it suddenly stopped working. Contacted customer service. Received an immediate reply from Gigi. She sent easy to follow instructions and it WORKED! Would recommend product.

These days a backup camera is pretty much a must on any new vehicle. I've gotten used to having backup cameras in my trucks and cars, they are not only convenient, they also add a level of safety by helping eliminate blind spots when backing up. My current SUV has a backup camera that works well, but when pulling my 20' camper I found the SUV's backup camera worked great for helping me hitch the camper, but was of no use when towing or backing up as the camper blocked the camera. When purchasing a new back-up system I decided to purchase another system with a wireless camera. (I had one previously that I gifted to a friend.) I chose this one from AUTO-VOX (2nd AUTO-VOX purchase) as it not only has a wireless camera but also has a small solar panel to help keep the camera battery charged. The backup camera kit came well packed and undamaged. Note: AUTO-VOX uses Apple-like packaging with vacuum molded inserts, and a quick-start guide. Set-up was easy as there is just the receiver/monitor, power cable / power button, windshield mount, power cable, license plate holder/solar panel/camera, and USB micro charge cable. Note: Though the camera battery can be charged by the solar panel, it is good to fully charge the camera first using the micro USB cable. (A full charge took less than 30 minutes for me.) Next I just needed to swap out my old license plate bracket with the AUTO-VOX camera / license plate bracket, press the power button, and then plug in the 5-volt power adapter into my SUV's power outlet. Immediately I was able to see a clear image from the camera in the monitor. (The monitor and camera were already paired.) Note: The camera can be angled up or down by loosening 2 screws on the holder, adjusting, and then re-tightening. (see pic) There are 3 buttons on the side of the monitor, 2 up/down buttons and a selection button and all options are on one screen. *Pair (for pairing the camera and monitor, not needed in my case) *BC Control (brightness) *Mirror/Normal (for reversing image) *Camera Time (auto off time set: 45s, 60s, 90s) *Guide Lines (turns guide lines off or on) *Reset With the options set there is little need to touch the monitor after that as it will power up and turn on automatically if your vehicle has a power outlet that turns off and on with the vehicle (like mine). Once powered up the monitor will display the camera image for the time period you set previously (45s, 60s, 90s) and then turn off automatically so that is not a distraction while driving and to conserve camera battery power. To view the backup camera any time just press the power button on the power adapter and the monitor turns back on for the time period you set. Note: My previous back-up camera system had a small remote which I thought was nice at first but the remote was hard to keep track of and tended to get lost. The power button on the power lead is a much better design.) I am very happy with the ease of use as well as the image quality of the backup camera set-up. Nighttime vision is very good and the ability to turn the system on using a single-button on the power adapter makes the system super easy to use. The solar panel that helps maintain the camera battery charge is also a nice feature. Towing my camper has now become a one-person job, something I was not able to do with full confidence before. I am very pleased with this backup camera system and will update this review if I experience any issues. ... show more

    • really works and breezy set up
I charged the Camera battery by the USB port provided. I Put it around the license plate as directed then screwed the license plate back on. All you need is a screw driver and few minutes.. BUT be aware that the frame around the license plate provided by most car dealers won't likely fit .. so let go of this aesthetic license plate frame ... Also, the Camera is in the way of the trunk handle (A used BMW sedan that came without the factory rear view cam) I have to now open the trunk only by the car keys. At the end of the day, it's a good alternative to having to chase a car accessories workshop to install one + Have to wait for an appointment let alone for them to pick up the phone, and the never ending Covid shortage of staff saga .. You can do it yourself without having to cut or run wires through your car. This is my first day using it and letting go of the fancy factory installed ones I got used to in my previously leased car. I see it is not like the factory installed ones but at least for a miserable driver like me who is parking and backing up challenged, I can see what lurks behind my car when I back up and avoid disasters. The guide outlines are just for show, they won't change with your direction no beeping or any alerts of-course. Since it is not plugged into your back up lights or wheel you have to turn it on manually when you are backing up or trying to park. It turns on for few seconds when you turn on the engine. The monitor was easy to plug into the car cig lighter (it comes with that and a suction stand that you will place likely on the windshield)..Most car dashboards are of a grainy surface that suction stands don't work well with. Comes with a loooong cord to connect the monitor to the car lighter IDK why so I tied the excess and stuck it in the cup holder. The image is good. As for the waterproofing issue with the solar battery that seems to be the theme of the reviews, I tried to put the rubber cap on the USB charger as tight as possible. I will use nature's rain to wash my car so it is not tested in a car wash and I have yet to see how it handles strong windy rain storms in NC.. I invested in the warranty, just in case, plus I see most reviews rave about customer support (hope I won't need it) Will update this review as I go. For now, it's 4.5 stars for the set back w the trunk handle, otherwise, it should be a 5 stars hands down as long as it continues to charge by nature's sun. ... show more
