  • Every home owner needs this to determine which outlet goes to which breaker
I've used this for about 6 months on and off while remodeling a home. It works great for detecting which outlet goes to which breaker. I like how it gives information about whether the outlet was wired correctly and whether it has proper ground or not. This is definitely needed to go along with a multimeter. If only I had found out about this sooner. With this, I found that the outlet wiring were reverse. The black hot wire goes on the shiny gold screw and the white neutral wire goes to the regular dull color screw on the side of the outlet. ... show more

  • Electric line tracer
I'm not an electrician, but I have to play one in my house. Electricians $$. I also live in a 1940s home, remodeled more than once before and since myself. That means mysterious electric wiring all over. So I needed this badly. Klein is one of the quality devices in line testing, and this one is up to par. It accurately reveals where a outlet leads to which circuit at your electric panel.works well, and accurately almost too sensitive so check nearby circuits several times and settle on the one by flipping that switch and then the outlet then without power. It looks a bit long, but that's because the two parts are meant to when not used. I.e., you don't lose one part. ... show more

  • Works quite well
After reading the negative reviews on some of these I was concerned, but this one works well. Depending on how wires are arranged in a breaker box, it can be off a little, but it will get you really close. Sure is better than turning breakers off one at a time.

  • Easy to use and helpful if used as inteded
Helpful quick scan/ diagnostic tool but that is all. If you rely on this you will run in beeping circles all day long. Used correctly and its definitely nice to have

  • Amazing
This is a must have when troubleshooting a house electrical panel. Saves time. But you must follow the set up steps each time to get the right readings.

This is a game changer for DIY'ers like myself. With my panel in the basement missing a lot of labels it makes finding the right breaker a snap. Great investment.
