I started using circuit breaker finders about ten years ago. I was very happy to discover that there was such a thing. At the time, I bought the cheapest one I could find. It worked Ok, but still required some trial and error to find the circuit I needed to turn off. When I saw that Klein Tools made a circuit breaker finder, I thought I'd try it because I've always been impressed with the quality of Klein electrical tools. My neighbor is a Master Electrician and he uses many Klein brand tools. Compared to my old, cheap device, the Klein Tools instrument has better sensitivity and accuracy. The visual notification is plenty bright for dark rooms where the panel box can be found. This unit allows me to quickly and easily locate circuit breakers. I don't always find them on the first try, but it sure beats pure trial and error. I already had a cheap dedicated voltage tester, but the transmitter with this Klein set also detects voltage and proper wiring of outlets! Best of all, this set fit perfectly into the hard case I already had. Also, Amazon sells good hard cases that will fit this device well. ... show more

Living in an older home it’s hard to know what outlets go to what on your circuit breaker if they aren’t labeled. I picked this up for that purpose and let me tell you it this works great! The durability and ease of use made this a great buy. Klein tools are some of the best tools I own.

This tool set is simply awesome. I've done house wiring a good deal and never bothered to check circuit finder tools. Dumb. This would have saved me SO much time and trouble. Wive and yelling back and forth about test lamps being off or on. Or bad wiring. If you're a home owner, buy this now. Put it in your odds and ends tool kit. Put some marking tape in it too. Most of all READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!! I know, if your a guy, ya don't do dat. but the system will not work properly if you skip important processes. ... show more

I’m giving this 4 stars because it definitely gets the job done, but it isn't always 100% accurate on the first pass. The integrated GFCI outlet tester works perfectly and is super convenient, but the breaker finder itself sometimes takes a few tries to narrow down the exact switch. It’s a huge time-saver compared to running back and forth, but you really have to follow the instructions closely and pass it over the breakers slowly to get a reliable reading. I debated on getting just the plug detector, but i figured I'd spend some money and get the kit with breaker detector & accessories (no pouch/bag). I've used this for checking a main panel swap and it paid for itself in finding a single outlet that was wired wrong and causing a network switch to not operate: after restoring power, there was no wired internet due to the network switch getting bad voltage. I can't even imagine having to find that problem with just my volt meter. 100% worth the electrician-skill-game enhancer. The breaker detector was easy enough to use and helps I.D. circuits where labels have faded or just don't exist. It got the correct breaker, but there was a 'maybe' with the neighboring breaker, YET it made figuring out which breaker was for the dishwasher for a replacement job easy. Before using this, it would require some investigating, tracing wires where applicable, deducing which voltage breakers (220/110), and even then we would have to take guesses sometimes and just start tripping breakers till we found the right one (or short the end of the wires together to force a trip, I know REAL safe...). Now, worst case, is you have 2 breakers that need tripped for the 1 circuit you're working on. I'm not sure how it would work if the circuit is wired wrong, i.e. if neutral and hot are reversed, etc, but the instructions say that the circuit must be wired right in the first place for the detector to work... Works for electricians of course, but as an HVAC/Plumber tech, I find it highly valuable. I think DIY'ers and homeowners could benefit for the "pricey" gear and kit from a know name brand. ... show more
