Get one of these. This has got to be one of THE handiest household tools I've ever purchased. Our house was built in the 80s and the electrical closet is a nightmare. It's so hard to figure out what breakers to flip when we need to do something but this makes it so easy! You just plug the one end in where you want to turn off a circuit and go out to your circuit panel and use the other tool and it alerts when you go over the correct breaker.     • Accurate on Simple Circuits, But Cross‑Talk Causes False Positives in Complex Wiring

Bought and tested the Klein ET301 AC Circuit Breaker Finder. The product arrived quickly from Amazon, was packaged well, and I had it functional within about five minutes — very easy to get started. For simple wiring layouts, it performs perfectly. However, in a home with interleaved outlet wiring, it can produce false positives. In my case, the receiver indicated the same outlet was tied to two different breakers, which is confusing and counterproductive. When that happens, you end up falling back to the old method of flipping breakers and checking for power around the house. It works, but it becomes tedious when mapping a full panel. The issue appears to come from cross‑talk on the transmitter’s imposed signal when conductors run long distances in parallel or when multiple distribution connections meet in a chase box. Under those conditions, the signal can bleed into adjacent circuits and mislead the receiver. Otherwise, this is a good product and worth trying. — HansandGret ... show more

I had an outdoor receptacle whose GFCI tripped due to inadvertently catching spray from a hose. After waiting for it to dry out over several days, I just couldn't get the Red Button (RESET) to restore power. It appeared to press down but nothing happened. I used the "Push to check GFCI" switch on the transmitter and the red button popped out with an audible click. I don't know if dirt and moisture have gummed up the buttons on the GFCI outlet and that is something that I may have to clean out or replace. At $45, this was an expensive tool, but I was thinking of having to track down upstream breakers at the time of purchase. I guess it ended up being cheaper in terms of time and labor or to call for professional help. So, I guess it worked for me. ... show more
