I've had a couple cheap shredders that were not great so I didn't shred enough and let stuff pile up. Life brought me a ton of new paperwork that needed sorted and shredded and I knew that I needed something more substantial. This one is quiet and easy to use. When overloaded it spits the papers back out fairly well. It crunched through 12 plastic credit cards with ease. After reading many reviews, I chose this shredder. I have owned it for a few months. It has been the best shredder I have ever owned. It can shred through 5-10 pieces of paper with ease. What I wanted most was a shredder that would go for several minutes without overheating. This one fits the bill. I can shread several documents for 20-30 minutes and not feel I need to rest the shredder. The only con to this shredder is when placing the waste bucket back in- it can hang a little bit. This is the best purchase I have made with regards to a shredder! We use a shredder almost daily and have found this one performs flawlessly! It is fairly heavy (about 22 pounds, I recall). It is very sturdy, shreds most anything and is quiet…..very quiet! There are many, many 5 star reviews and having used this shredder for the past couple of months, I can certainly understand why! This shredder does a great job! Can easily handle 10 sheets, and shreds the paper into very small pieces. It can be run for quite a while, but does have an overheat sensor in case you push it too hard. Basket is easy to empty and holds a decent amount. It's great for home use!

This shredder has met my needs. I had a big cleanout to do of my office, after the pandemic, and it has handled the shredding well. I have done 4 large garbage bags full of shredding with no issues. If the machine jams, it stops and there is a reverse button. It handled old credit cards easily. Of course it makes some noise, but it does not scare off my cats and one even comes to hang out in my office while I'm shredding. My former shredder from another company could handle barely the same capacity, was loud, and did not last a year. I would purchase this one again. ... show more

Does what it's intended to do, make sure to buy some oil, the manual makes it very clear you should oil the blades after every use! Cons: Not intended for letters with those transparent windows, those will likely melt to the blades. Go paperless billing people!

I’ve had this Aurora AU1000A shredder since Oct 2022. This thing is fantastic. It shreds paper, credit cards, discs into small pieces. It tells you if you are trying to put in too many pages, it stops if you try to put your finger in the shredder so it’s great for kids, and it shuts off automatically. The bin is also large enough that you don’t have to empty it often. It is rather tall, but it’s quieter than the Amazon basics one I had before, and it holds way more shredded material before having to empty the bin. ... show more
