    • 4.5 holes on a full charge is unacceptable.
It drilled holes just fine. The problem is that it only drilled 4.5 holes on a full charge. I returned it. I'll be purchasing a gas one.

Our family construction business has need for all kinds of support equipment, including landscaping and digging tools, and we were impressed when we read the description of this cordless electric auger for digging holes. I'm no tool expert, but I think this is one of the few times I've seen a power tool be designed to use two batteries at one time in order to get the best performance. Great design. DIgging holes for fence posts or pillars can be done manually but is extremely labor-intensive. Using this electric auger with its 6-inch drill, 1200W pure copper motor (with a rotational speed of 750 RPM), and two batteries, it generates steady and powerful torque to penetrate hard soil and clay. It has a tough, solid build but is fairly lightweight to carry (16 lbs). When it's turned on it's quite powerful and digs holes quickly, one after the other. When it's at high speed it sometimes is a bit difficult to control, but if that occurs, it's easy to dial down the speed. You can also reverse the digging direction. To recharge the batteries (it comes with a charger compatible with Makita batteries), it takes 2 1/2- 2 3/4 hours and then you're back in business to dig again. We are very impressed with this electric auger that digs holes so effortlessly. A definite recommend. ... show more

From my son: Dug a hole in less than 90 seconds that took me 15 minutes by hand. Such a time saver! 5 stars. I ordered this auger that arrived just as my son was installing fence posts on his farm. He had already started digging by hand which is exhausting, especially with the heat we have been having. The Auger is compact in size but packs a punch with two included large capacity batteries that can be used at the same time for maximum power. There is dual safety switch and six speeds which is pretty impressive. The auger is very sturdy but you do have to hold on tight at high speed. I am anxious to use it to dig holes for a couple lilac bushes I need to plant. I really wasn't sure what to expect with an auger that uses rechargeable batteries but am very impressed and happy with this product. Definitely worth the price. ... show more
