I have hard clay soil and have a lot of small patches in the lawn to reseed. I attached this to the drill and broke up the soil without disturbing the good grass. I added compost to the soil and hit it again to mix it in and than added the seed. Plan on using to plant some bulbs later. I thought the auger and my 20 volt drill worked good and gave me a good base for the seed to take root.

Planted 30 wing stem plants and then my neighbor gave us three buckets of lilies and planting went fast. I put this next to my Johnny Appleseed peeler, slicer and corer. Use a quality 20 v. Portable drill. The chuck on my drill loosened several times. I usually use my ice fishing auger for cutting holes for fence posts.

I found this drill auger to be very powerful. Actually is more powerful than I expected. It takes very little effort and you got a giant hole. You actually have to control more, to make it a smaller hole. Overall, I would say this is an excellent purchase and quality for the price.

Initial thoughts were to use this to help turn soil in my raised garden barrels, and maybe be able to created some (small) post holes around the house for non-structural/non-fence tasks. For turning the soil in my garden barrels...it's awesome, only change I'd like, is if the shaft to the drill chuck were about 8-12 inches longer. For the small post holes...unfortunately, total failure. Not due to the auger itself though. Our ground is just too full of rocks for the leading tip to effectively break through the ground.
